We had the good fortune of connecting with Selena Garrett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Selena, what role has risk played in your life or career?
It’s the absolute fear of the unknown. I Feel like if you never take a chance at something you’ll never know how it feels or how it will allow your career and/or livelihood to flourish… I’ve had to learn that overtime and to not be so afraid… now if there is something that is in the forefront of me and it’s a great opportunity.. I pray about it and if it feels like it’s a good thing then I take the risk..

What should our readers know about your business?
Well my company is called Nu’Turre which constitutes a Hair salon suite, hair products.. anything beauty….I have a natural hair product called a Nu’Turre which consists of stimulating hair growth oil and moisture growth oil for sale now on nuturre.com … It’s in development now creating a whole product line and products to go along with it. Hard work and perseverance just got me to where I am today taking a chance on me.There are times where I’d only have one client coming in once a week. I still had to pay my booth rent but I believed in myself to continue… Believing in myself with anything that I do now whether it’s my investment properties my hair company and also becoming a hairstylist to my celebrity cousin Mali Hunter of Stonewood Manor.. No it has not always been easy… I was a hairstylist and also working with the elderly and a lot of side hustles such as selling products for other companies I’ve always had 2 to 3 things going on it was very hard especially having children to take care for, but you just have to figure it out & have no time for worries or cries… Prayer is everything.. Family support The lessons I’ve learned along the way … is what you put out into the universe is what you get back… If you a positive outlook on life in anything in life It will come back you.. My motto is you got to go through something to get to something wether good or bad… Life learned lessons mold you into the person you become… And the people that you surround yourself with. I want people to know that I love hard.. I love to help others, & I’m always a listening ear…. I love GOD my family & friends And to let others know that my Company Nu’Turre is on the rise… Prayerfully my products will be in a store near you very soon & That I will be making some property investments with my management co. Called Hue Management Co Llc in a city near you soon as well….lol I will keep things rolling as long as I’m here on this earth in this lifetime ..

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well first of all I’d start out with breakfast brunch at Sweet Melissa’s in Decatur,ga Square And also Nana’s chicken N waffles in Conyers, ga, Sage restaurant in Atlanta ,ga for dinner… I love to go to Events in the park in the summertime & Support peoples creativity … Go listen to some live music at the City Winery… And maybe do some sip and paint & bowling and some Top Golf… Bring my friends together and drive to a Carolina Beach …. also have a couple of margaritas at Zama Mexican Quisine & Margarita Bar In Marrietta,ga & Cielo Blue in Conyers,ga.. There are a lot of places to go out here in Atlanta but these are some of my favorite things to do!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give recognition to my family and friends for my successes…. Whom pushed me, encouraged me and had my back .. The place I grew up…. where I came from allowed me to be the person that I am today. I give recognition to my grandmother Edna Cunningham who was a Master Cosmetologist and a teacher in North Chicago Illinois…. She knew her craft and she was was always a listening ear to others gave great lessons in life before she passed when I was the age of 10.
