We had the good fortune of connecting with Seher Haque and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seher, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I was born in a small town in Michigan where I did my elementary school from. At age 9, my dad suddenly decided to move us all to half way across the world to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We were all nervous but it became the experience of a lifetime! The diversity in Malaysia changed really helped to broaden our perspectives. A few years later, we moved to the glamorous United Arab Emirates, where everything is larger than life.

Being originally Indian and Pakistani, and then experiencing all of these diverse cultures on top of that throughout my life has helped me realize that our similarities are more than our differences. It just takes a conversation with someone from a different background to realize this.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Being in control of your entire life is fiction, but being in control of certain ASPECTS of your life is wholly possible. Make goals to achieve what you want to accomplish in life, set up your home to make it your sanctuary, learn parenting techniques that will benefit your child well into adulthood, and do all of this in SIMPLE ways.

I am not about overwhelming methods like KonMari, where you empty your entire walk in closet on to your bed and are expected to finish going through it in a day. We take things slow and steady here, manageable for busy people yet still focused on the goal of decluttering and beautifying our homes.

And that is what it means to be Simply in Control. Always having the intentions to progress, always growing, but never feeling intimidated by it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is such a fun place for families to visit! We love taking our guests to a number of places here.

We start off with the must-visit tourist spots: World of Coca Cola for the 60+ unlimited sample of drinks, followed by the Georgia Aquarium for some awe-inspiring creature watching! We also enjoy the outdoor walking area at Fernbank Museum.

For shopping we love the outdoor spaces such as Avalon, Halcyon and Peachtree Corners (awesome playground and adult outdoor gym included!)

Some of our favorite parks are Morgan Falls Park and Jones Bridge Park, both for the lake views and playground for kids.

We have taken a lot of families to the Revolving Sushi Factory in Alpharetta and they loved the concept!

For a bit of nature, Brasstown Bald has incredible views!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I began an Instagram page called @simplyincontrol hoping to find like-minded individuals – mothers who are looking to simplify their lives. Over the years, the community that grew on my page is what keeps me going. Most of them are complete strangers, but the encouragement they send and the meaningful discussions we have is something that holds a lot of value in my life.

What started from an Instagram page led me to become a Certified Professional Organizer. I now serve in the North Atlanta area to make your home the sanctuary you can enjoy!
