We had the good fortune of connecting with Scottie Johnson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Scottie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I started my own business for several reasons. First after serving 27 years in the Army and supervising over 120 Soldiers as a First Sergeant, I wanted to utilize my work skills that made me great at what I did. Secondly I wanted to showcase what I truly had a passion of doing, cooking! What better way of doing that was creating a product or service to people because as we know, food is love! And lastly I wanted to be in control of what service I was presenting, answering to myself and of course, my wife Lowanda.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What’s unique about my business and what we provide is Passion! Most time we are driven by other things that’s not really what we want to do. We provide private chef services with elegant meals in the comfort of your own home. We are a husband and wife team and we create a relaxing environment for our clients to enjoy and be memorable. My story I share with others is how I became an Award Winning Chef after retiring from the Army, 27 years of service. The lesson I learned is to build your business on what you stand for, not on what you see others doing. Always believe in yourself! You must have a vision because without one you’ll never move forward. Make your brand yours so that when people see and purchase it, they will see who you are. Every open door is not always for you, but when you do find the door that belongs to you, open it and see the blessings flow!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take my best friend to a couple of places. Of course I would create a awesome meal for them during their stay. Next I would visit some of my other great friends because we always have a great time eating, sipping on nice bourbon, great conversations, and occasionally nice cigar. I believe having a great connection of friends is the best way to unwind. Another place we would visit is Savannah, GA. There is so much history there and lots of great food! Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give thanks and praise first to God! I also thank my lovely spouse, Lowanda! She is my business partner and everything else. She is the go to when I have a question or need feedback on various situations concerning the business. I can always expect the truth! My grandparents and parents have always been the motivation in everything I choose to do. I’m also proud of my first book “See Your Route and Run It”.
