We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Cyree and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, how do you think about risk?
Truthfully, I’m a leap before I can think too long about it kind of gal. Because no matter what happens I’m going to learn. I’ve watched so many friends feel paralyzed by the thinking of it all, and I’ve fallen victim to it as well. But at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if I hit the bell the every time or just get the sledgehammer to move the ball a little bit. I’ve done something. I’ve acted. I’ve taken a step in trusting my instincts. I’ve reminded myself that I trust me. I’ve chosen to move forward and learn. I’ve chosen to try. Without it, I wouldn’t have started a blog, went after a career in film, built the life I have or met the people who are in it. Without the risk, aka trying without any idea of how or what would work out, I honestly don’t know where I’d be other than in a terrible mental state. I think sometimes the biggest risk we take is not taking one at all.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Going up in a medical family, it took me years to realize I was creative. Partially because my idea of creativity wasn’t what I think we know it as today. Social media has given platforms to tell stories in so many new ways. But with every little choice I made, I learned a little bit more about what drives me. And with it definitely came challenges. There were times where I thought I wanted something but I got it and realized that it wasn’t quite right. Or it wasn’t at the right time. I think learning to let go of things when you need to and trusting that the right stuff will find its way back to you is major. I also know that learning to trust my gut above everything else has been foundational in creating a life I love.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I feel like one of the best things about ATL is there is always somewhere to discover. But I also think it depends on the time of the year. The aquarium & botanical gardens are two of my favorites. And if you’re lucky enough to be in town when Cirque de Solei is visiting, it’s an amazing show. I’m also a major movie person so I love going to Cinebistro. It’s a standard girls’ night pick so that we feel refreshed the next morning instead of drained after a night out. I’m not much of a clubbing gal. Food wise, I love healthy but fun. And there are SO many places to go. But True Food Kitchen, Revolution Donuts, and Kale Me Crazy are my regular picks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My inner circle. I tend to keep my friends on the quieter side simply because not everyone wants to share their life online. But when it comes to learning to take risks, I’ve learned that you have to feel safe enough to be able to take them, to begin with. And my core group supports even my craziest ideas. I love them for it.
