We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarai Gonzalez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarai, what makes you happy? Why?
What makes me happy, is seeing everyone in my surroundings be happy. Through my art I’m able to make individuals feel they’re best, giving them confidence and joy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art consists of making people feel amazing about themselves, whether it’s giving them a complete makeover, or simply styling them to where they feel so confident and happy with themselves. The reason I am where I’m at today, is because Of my ambition and personality. Not only do I make my clients happy, I connect with them in a form other stylists don’t. I build a bond and friendship with my clients, and that’s what builds trust and comfort between us, still keeping it professional. I’ve had many challenges, including a whole pandemic, which set the whole service industry back. Getting to where I’m at today has not been an easy road, there was many times i struggled to do the basic things, from being able to feed myself to putting gasoline in my car to get to work. My drive never stopped, I always told myself God will show me the path, and it was shown. No matter what issues I was going through, I never showed it to the most important people, my clients. I overcame a lot of obstacles by keeping faith, in not only God, but myself. Throughout time, in this industry I’ve learned that not everyone is your friend. It’s hard to trust individuals, and keeping to yourself is your best option. Being a young individual in the industry has allowed me to meet many people of different ages, but that does not define maturity. I’ve learned many lessons along the way, given that I’m 23 years old, there is something to learn on a daily basis. I want people to know that my work and brand is made from true passion and love for the beauty industry. My story is definitely something to look up to, having immigrant parents in this country is a huge pressure you can never get rid of. Every day I work hard to make my parents proud, and beat the statistics that are out there in the world. I want everyone to know that every struggle has an end goal, and your ambition and you really wanting something, will get you there.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take my friends to Buckhead, midtown or downtown. To a series of lounges, restaurants and beautiful rooftops in the city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I dedicate my shout out to my eldest sister, Rosa. Who was the person who encouraged me to pursue my interest in the beauty industry, and even enrolled me into cosmetology school. My passion, and her encouragement are the reason that I am, where I am today.
