We had the good fortune of connecting with Sárah Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sárah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Set Up 4 Success is my initial dive into entrepreneurship straight out of Hampton University. No job offers post-graduation guided me to a different path. I wasn’t destined to be a local news reporter; there was a unique contribution I needed to make to media, especially in this era of drastic change.

Creating this podcast wasn’t just about personal growth but a necessity for my generation, Gen Z. “I’ve been that student, high schooler, and college graduate navigating an unconventional path toward success. The podcast serves as a lifeline for Gen Z, HBCU students, and anyone seeking inspiration.

I’ve always felt the younger generations, including mine, are left out of crucial conversations, told to wait for success. However, I believe in providing tools now, knowing that greatness takes time. This podcast is about positive change, impactful conversations, and sharing stories and lessons that connect the dots, leading you to your purpose in life.

Please tell us more about your career. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I’m all about helping the next generation succeed by creating motivational content that shows the power of storytelling with purpose. What makes me stand out is that I’m focused on crafting content to empower Gen Z, HBCUs, and anyone looking for inspiration that meets them where they are.

As an interviewer, content creator, consultant, and now podcast host, I’m proud of the work I’m doing now. It’s amazing to do what I love, it has been amazing being able to interview so many of dream guests so early on as well, and start building relationships with them. Everyone assumes it’s so easy for me, but I have worked hard. I got here by following my talent and always knew I’d be in front of the camera, using my voice for positive change.

College let me experiment, and even though no journey is easy, I feel blessed. When things seem like they’re not working, they somehow turn out better than I imagined. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the power I have to speak life into my dreams. I’m my own biggest supporter, making things happen to reach my ultimate goals.

I want people to know I’m here for them, especially encouraging young women to believe they can do it too. My brand is all about excellence, shaped by my time at Hampton University. While my story is still unfolding, I hope others see the passion in my eyes and realize it’s possible to be exactly who they believe they’re meant to be.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I travel a lot, and in 2024, Atlanta will become my new home. So, I may not be the best person to recommend spots just yet, but I absolutely love going out, eating, and having a good time. I can’t wait to discover those places in the future. Locally, though, I enjoy taking my best friend to luxury hotels, ordering pizza or room service, nails & spa, exploring comedy clubs, chill concerts, and visiting coffee shops. I think that would make for a great itinerary.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I always say, I owe a lot to my close ties with God, family, my best friend, and all my mentors. They’ve really shaped who I am today, boosting my confidence, growth, and overall peace. Even though I keep a small circle, everyone in my life is a positive force. It’s just so nice to have that constant love and support. Knowing who’s got my back is the best feeling ever, and I’m excited for more supportive people to come my way in the future.
