We had the good fortune of connecting with Samyra Jackson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samyra, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
For me there is no giving up I have invested too much time and money. There is no other choice than to make it. This has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. The thought of giving up has crossed my mind time and time again, and each time I receive a sign to continue. Fashion is something I can not live without. I push myself even when things are not going the way I expected, because consistency is key. Nothing happens overnight. I know in my heart my time is coming. I just have to remain patient. I am surrounded with loved ones who are following their dreams and/or working on their own business. This keeps me motivated and inspired to go harder. Also the support from those around me means the world to me and reassures me I am on the correct path. Following my dream is more about my passion and love for my brand than making money. The money does not determine whether it is worth it. There are times when orders are coming in and there are times when business is down; Down days do not mean quit. Try, try again, try a different approach, try something new, but never give up.

Sight Apparel caters to exclusivity. All the products sold on sightapparel.com are released in low quantities. This is due to my personal preference with attire. No one enjoys unintentionally matching with another person. My brand allows the consumer to know that are one of a kind. I am living out my dream of starting a fashion business. Even though I am still in the beginning stages, I am proud of how far I have come. It took long hours, late nights, sacrifices, and of course money, but without dedication, passion, creativity and patience I would not have accomplished my goals. The support of loved ones kept me going at times when I thought of giving up. By taking risks I had to step out of my comfort zone and get used to trying new things. It is always hard for me to begin new projects because of my anxiety. I learned to force all the negativity to the side and just do it like Nike. Once I stopped doubting myself I became more productive and focused. My journey taught me consistency is the key to success. I am thankful for the growth this experience has brought me.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There is so much to do in the Metro Atlanta area. I love a fun activity followed with food. Some fun outings include going to the High Museum, a gun range, Top Golf, Andretti, bowling, getting tattoos, etc. Atlanta has so many amazing places to eat. R. Thomas is one of my favorite places to get food. The seafood curry pasta is amazing. They used to be open 24 hours a day, but since the pandemic the hours have changed. My favorite wing spot is Wings In A Basket. I always order the ranch dance hot, it is to die for trust me. Atlanta is also known for hookah bars. I do not have a favorite, however I am always down to try a new one.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If it were not for my family and friends I would not be following my dreams. They gave me the confidence to know I could use my talents to build a life for myself. They believed in me more than I did. The love that was poured into me gave me the strength to start my brand. A special thanks to Tyler Jackson, my younger sister, who filed all my paperwork to make my business legit. She was right there with me every step of the way. Eventually, she branched off to create her own reselling vintage brand, ATL Treasure Chest.
