We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Ortiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Initially, I had never considered diving into the world of entrepreneurship. It was like being a skilled baker without any knowledge of running a business. I must admit, every day is a learning experience, and if it weren’t for my daughter Kelsey, my business “Sammie’s Sweets” would have never come to life. She was the catalyst that pushed me to take a leap of faith and pursue my dreams.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the world of the automotive industry, it can be challenging to stand out from the crowd. But for me, my unique selling point is simply being my authentic self. I take pride in who I am becoming and I’m excited about the progress I’ve made. Just like a flower in full bloom, it’s the result of hard work and dedication.

To overcome the obstacles I’ve faced, I had to push myself to be better, to constantly improve. I’ve learned that it doesn’t matter how much knowledge or skill you possess, if people aren’t willing to give you a chance, it can be difficult to succeed. However, I refuse to let that hold me back.

I want the world to know that my creativity is a source of pride for me. It fuels my drive and passion in the baking industry. My story is still unfolding, and I’m determined to make a mark in this ever-evolving industry.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Downtown Greenville offers a vibrant and diverse experience with its art scene, events, and great dining options. Exploring the art galleries will allow you to immerse yourself in the local artistic talent and appreciate different forms of creativity.

Afterward, catching a movie can be a fun way to relax and enjoy some entertainment. Greenville has several theaters that offer a wide range of movies to choose from.

And of course, no visit to downtown Greenville would be complete without indulging in some delicious food. Yard House, Carolina Ale House, and Ink and Ivy’s are excellent choices for dining. Whether you’re in the mood for a variety of craft beers, a casual sports bar atmosphere, or a unique dining experience, these restaurants have something for everyone.
