We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Noble Webb and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha Noble, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by how other artists move through the world. I really do believe that the beauty of art is that it is created through us by the muses. We create art for ourselves first, our peers second, and our community third. I think the most inspiring endeavor that a human being can embark on is the journey of self discovery that art provides. All of that is to say, I am inspired by how we as a collective can continue to create nuances in our work that still surprise us. There is a divine force that allows us, the vessel to be used to create something that becomes our legacy.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an actor, a storyteller, and a musician. I feel comfortable referring to myself as such because I have spent the last 10 years or so writing songs, poetry, training as an actor, and pursuing film work. As a storyteller in every aspect, it is of the utmost importance to me that I share my creativity with the world. To simplify, the “calling” as my mentor refers to it, is when you are drawn to tell stories. For me that manifested as theatre and music when I was very young. I fell madly in love with transforming my instrument into different characters in order to authentically tell a story. There is a divine dissatisfaction as Martha Graham once put it, in our work. No matter what I do, I always feel there is more to discover and it is the craving to keep going that allows me to feel like the artist that I am. We have to know that we must create art or those stories will inevitably die with us. I didn’t always feel this way, in fact I spent most of my life trying to suppress those creative feelings for fear of judgement, and fear of financial insecurity. The only thing I have never feared was failure. Failure is how we continue to grow and learn, it is necessary. I intuitively know how desperately I need to create art, and tell stories. It’s the only thing that has ever made sense to me.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta is hands down one of the most fun cities I have ever experienced. I love to go to the Battery and go to Punch Bowl Social, there is a lot to do in that area as well. Renting scooters and cruising on the Belt line is insanely fun as well. I would also say bar hopping on the Belt line is great fun, places like Ladybird and Ponce City Market are certainly my favorites.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could use this whole interview to talk about how deeply supportive my family has been towards my creative pursuits. However, I will sum it up in a few words. I always knew when a pursuit didn’t feel right for me. After attending university and receiving a Bachelor’s in Psychology I remember calling each of my family members and telling them how suffocated I felt just thinking about pursuing my Master’s degree in it. I was devastated to learn how little I wanted a career in that field. I was further devastated to learn that every career I could think of still didn’t feel like the puzzle piece that was missing from my being. That was until I found Straeon Acting Studios and Jock Macdonald. I never felt like I was in the right room, with the right people until I was in a studio space with twelve other actors and my coach. I learned more about the craft of acting and my own heart in a two-day workshop than I had in 22 years of life. Jock continues to be a mentor, sounding board, creative collaborator, and one of my dearest friends, 8 years into my training journey. I am so grateful to know him and his creative genius, and to be able to learn from him. I am forever grateful that our paths crossed and we have many future projects to look forward to!
