Meet Samantha Amazan | Owner and Home Fragrance Specialist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Amazan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
You always have to start with what you love to do. I ask myself that every year. Then ask yourself, can that thing you love to do be lucrative. I love being creative and creating things from scratch, During the Pandemic Lockdown, I needed a creative outlet. So, I started making candles and testing them out with friends and family. After receiving great reviews, I continued to perfect my scent blending and doing research. So, with enough confidence and my entrepreneurial spirit, I thought of a business plan to take this hobby and make it into a small business.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting a small business online, while working a traditional 9-5, during a pandemic definitely kept me busy.
Constantly strategizing ways on making The Wicked Scent Company synonymous with high end home fragrance. Working on creating the best and most unique aromatic experiences where all your senses are enticed. Also, being philanthropic and paying homage to my culture whenever I can. Most recently I was able to achieve both with my latest collection. Creating the Heritage Collection started as a philanthropic effort to bring attention to human rights and aid of Haitians at the US and Mexico border and quickly turned into a transformative experience for myself. Creating t-shirts that expressed my thoughts felt purposeful. Creating candles that evoked memories of vacations and visits to Haiti felt magical.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
A trip to the High Line, Two Bridge Park to picnic and best views of Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge, Gantry Plaza State Park for amazing views of the city and the Pepsi sign, take a ferry to Governors Island for the best view of the Statue of Liberty, and go to the Harlem Pier for good music and culture. NYC is full of sights, restaurants, people, and things to do you will definitely need more than a week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I give all the credit to my family. Without them, Wicked Scent would not be what it is today. My dad instilled in me my entrepreneurial spirit, my mom gave me my drive to succeed, and my sisters give me unconditional support at all times.
