We had the good fortune of connecting with Saleana Henry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saleana, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I’m from South Jamaica Queens. I grew up with the mindset of if you do something you love you won’t work a day in your life… so with that in mind I found what I loved… And I hit the ground running.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Honestly being a Loctician is all about the creative… I’ve had the pleasure of working with all hair types and with doing that I’ve had to learn several different techniques for ALL hair types staying current with Loc trends product knowledge scalp analysis etc… what I e learned o we time is Not all Loc journeys are the same so we gotta be able to move accordingly.. Putting in those man hours educating yourself so you can better service your clients isn’t easy. The balance of home work and personal can be draining as hell but when you encounter those clients that vibe with you and love your work man everything else is simple

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost I need to thank the most high for everyday…. My grandma Betty McDaniel for letting me turn her kitchen into the hair trap… My mom for helping me gain the knowledge of my craft… Valerie Coleman of More Hair Salon for embracing me as a stylist…. A SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO ALL MY CLIENTS!!!!!!!! Thank you all for allowing me to start your Loc journeys…. And last but not least…. My children and anyone that was shooting in the gym with me….. I salute you
