We had the good fortune of connecting with Ross Goodman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ross, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
When I first started, there wasn’t much of a thought process. I found something I loved doing and decided that’s how I want to make my living. So I just started. Over the years, through mistakes and other learnings, but at first there was a whole lot of “fake it til you make it”

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
There are so many people out there doing amaze things. I think all artists are most critical of their own works. It was hard for me to find “my style”. I’m most excited when I get to create a project and When a client says “run with it”. I feel some of my best work came from this. Some of the most important things I’ve learned is not to try and force things. Keep it organic and natural.

It’s hard to overcome self doubt. Almost every session I think to myself on the way home, “I should have done this or that”, so I try to remember for next time. It use to really bother me, but I feel it’s good to have those thoughts now and I would be afraid if they ever stopped as that would mean the inspiration and creativity has stopped.

Im proud of the natural approach and rapport with my clients. I love meeting people, capturing and telling their stories.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love East Atlanta. The Krog tunnels, the village and being a foodie I would definitely go to Brush Sushi to eat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t have made it without the support and a assistance of my wife. We are a team. Also, fellow friends and photographers in the middle Georgia area. I’ve learned so much from our group and they give so much support to one another that it is really about the community over competition.
