Meet Roseanne Carlo | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roseanne Carlo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Roseanne, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Sucess is such an interesting notion. I am not quite sure what fully defines success. I feel success is a very personal accomplishment. What someone from the outside might perceive as success may not feel that way to us, because we are always striving for more, but success comes in many forms.
The most important thing we can remember about success is that the person staring back at us in the mirror meets our enthusiasm, our passion, and our goals. This trifecta of energy creates the base for our brand, because within the enthusiasm, passion, and goals is the authenticity that drives the brand. One cannot be successful without being authentic. In the age of photoshop and filters, it’s still easy to find the authentic brands that deliver the charm, the personality, and the vibe that we connect with.
What keeps people coming back is the feeling that they get when they see your brand. Authenticity equates to comfort, and that’s what brings everyone in. If there’s a comfort to your brand, that’s a great mark of success. Customers and clients should feel that they know you and can trust you. Take the time to connect with people and learn what they enjoy most about your brand and build upon those ideas. The most successful people listen, learn, and act with intention to grow and connect with the audience that has helped the brand become what it is.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art comes in many forms, from painting to aerial arts, and creating content for my Podcast, Messy Closet – The Spiritual Journey of Generation X, and my Social Podcast Team at Solvv. I see life as art and strive to make all of it beautiful and meaningful. Whether I am creating art on canvas, aerial dance, or podcast programming, I am careful to consider the content and how it is presented. The vibe my audience feels is very important to me, as I like to mix the past with the present and meet it with humor and my eccentric vibe.
Throughout my life’s experiences, I have learned that having a unique stamp on things is what sets you apart. I don’t believe that success is easy, although it may look that way from another perspective. Success for me has been challenging, and slow, but also rewarding because I have been able to curate my brand into something that an audience can connect with.
I have overcome losing everything and homelessness to gaining it back and owning a home in less than two years, based on nothing but pure energy and resolve to meet my goals. My entire perception of life changed during this time and the gratitude that I have for my accomplishments is what I give to my brand. Each day is an opportunity to create and recreate. I’ve recently recreated the Spiritual Advice portion of my business, for Tarot Readings and other forms of Divination. Spiritual Advising has been a big part of my life for many years, but the pandemic took a toll on me, so I paused and recreated the vibe so I’m able to offer what my clients know and love best.
If you are looking for authentic advice, stories from the past to inspire, how to decorate your home to inspire, cooking to nourish the soul, and how to turn your life into a work of art, this is what I specialize in. I call myself an artist because I am in a constant state of creating life from every angle.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I currently reside in the Catskill Mountains of New York State. We have beautiful hiking trails in New Paltz, NY with some fantastic dining and antiquing. My favorite spot is the Mountain Brauhaus. The scenic drives on country roads with mountain views are amazing. Bear Mountain, one of our most popular destinations is close by and has great hiking and outdoor activities. Be sure to visit Warwick and Sugar Loaf and check out the local artisan shops and restaurants.
Bethel NY, home of the Woodstock Music Festival is a great place to visit, the museum has lots of history of the festival, and great exhibits from the 60’s and 70’s.
Just an hour or so south is NYC, which is closer to my hometown of Mount Vernon NY. A quick ride will bring you to Times Square, Central Park, or even Grand Central Station to take in the amazing sights of the best city in the world. Catch a Broadway show and dinner at Seraphina.
My hometown of Mount Vernon, NY is still my favorite place. each time I visit I go to my favorite restaurant, The Bayou, a great cajun spot that’s been in Fleetwood, a neighborhood in Mount Vernon for 30 years.
I feel that exploring with no destination in mind is also a great way to discover hidden gems in the area that make a trip special. I always recommend the road less traveled.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout is to Solvv – Solving Voices, the new Social Podcasting App that has opened up a whole new world to me. Through Solvv I have met podcasters from all over the globe who have brought new thoughts, ideas, and opinions that have opened my eyes as to how connected we are to one another.
