We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rose, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
This is an interesting question for me, because in all honesty, I wasn’t looking to start this sort of business initially. I was simply a part of the Lifestyle community. Being in that community, I, along with my partner, attended parties, went to clubs, attended meet and greets, and vacationed at resorts and on cruises that catered to the lifestyle. Although I enjoyed these spaces, I couldn’t help but notice that the spaces were predominantly the same in terms of population. Most of these spaces are filled with older (40+ year old) white people. If you happened to find a younger crowd, such as YSW (YoungSwingersWeek), it was also a white space. Being that my partner is white and older, we weren’t completely out of place. However, we also weren’t the “right” type of interracial couple. You see, in the Lifestyle, interracial couples with a black male and white female is gold due to the BBC fetishes and white female normalcy. In addition, we dealt with a lot of people not believing we were a couple, assuming I was a working girl and he was paying me, and they were flat out straight forward and rude about their assumption. Anyway, to make a long story short, I love the Lifestyle, but couldn’t find a space in it with the welcoming feeling, fun, and crowd that I sought out, so I created it. My thought process was simple. My mom taught us, “If you don’t like the way I do it, do it yourself.” I didn’t fully like the way lifestyle parties and events were, so I did it myself. This was the birth of RoseParties, LLC.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
RoseParties LLC is an all in one service catered to anyone in the lifestyle or any ally of it. When I say lifestyle, I am referring to those who identify as a swinger, poly, ENM, or simply open. I throw play parties, non-play parties, events, meet and greets, plan trips, etc. C.A.L.M is a huge part of RoseParties and now has two meanings: Couples and Ladies Meet and Come All Let’s Meet. It is a platform by which all interested can join and converse with, throw their own events, ask questions, provide information, etc. to others. What sets my business apart from others is how welcoming it is and that the members and attendees are predominantly black and under 40. I am proud of this accomplishment because so many have thanked me for creating a space for them and so many have found love and friendships or simply found themselves through it. It was definitely not easy to get here and it’s still not easy. This is not a respected business, the lifestyle is looked at as wrong and explicit. Therefore, there are lots of challenges and risks involved and it’s easier to not use my real name so I won’t risk the bad publicity or losing my career. However, I got here by going with my gut, being social, promoting my butt off, asking for feedback, taking risk, and hosting my butt off. I want the world to know that RoseParties is here and if you are in the lifestyle or curious, but haven’t found your place or doesn’t feel as if there is a space for you, there is or you can create one. You are welcome in C.A.L.M and we’re going global!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Hmmm, Atlanta has so many options that this is actually hard.

Then head to Rum Punch Brunch for Sunday Funday. Feel free to skate at Cascade that night if that’s your thing.

Monday: Tourist Attraction Day. Check out Centennial Olympic Park, the Georgia Aquarium, and the World of Coca Cola

Taco Tuesday Duh: Minero in Ponce City Market for tacos and margaritas but enjoy the entire market that day, especially the rooftop activities (Skyline Park)

Wednesday: Dinner, Daiquiris, and Karaoke at Cirque

Thursday: Tourist Attraction Day. Have lunch at 5 Church, Check out Piedmont Park & Botanical Gardens, Eat dinner at STK Atlanta. If there is more time in the day, check out the High Museum of Art

Friday: If you weren’t able to check out the Civil Rights Museum on Monday, check it out here. Then, spend the evening in Edgewood to bar hop, drink, dance, have fun. MLK’s birth home is here. MJQ is also an interesting underground club to check out.

Saturday: Trap Music Museum. Check out one of the many Atlanta Strip Clubs such as Onyx that night orrr if you’re feeling particular racy, check out Trapeze Swingers Club.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to a couple of people, places, and experiences. First and foremost, I would like to shoutout my partner, because he is the most supportive person ever. He encourages me, helped me build and set up the necessary things for the party, he helps the process and hosting, and he simply gives me whatever I need to make the business work. I want to shoutout my bestfriend, because she has supported my vision from the beginning, attends every event, helps decorate each event, helps with the ideas, process, etc. Lastly, I want to shoutout Trapeze Atlanta Club, because it has been our favorite swingers club and inspired a lot of my set up and ideas and any and all lifestyle party, event, etc. that I’ve ever attended which either showed me what I don’t want or what I need.
