We had the good fortune of connecting with Ronald Burgess and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ronald, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is something I both love and fear. One of my favorite quotes is “ Life is either daring adventure or nothing at all.” Such profound words be Helen Keller. I’ve found these words to be true in many aspects of my life whether I’ve taken a risk and failed or succeeded – the moment has always been well worth it. My business iRONix Design Suite was nothing but a risk as I knew nothing about running a business. I had a few people that trusted me with design projects and just so happened to really like my work and it expanded from there. I’ve had the opportunity to work with celebrity clients, only because I took a risk and reached out to them, and it has yielded such great results.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets me apart from other designers is the heart and passion behind my projects. My clients aren’t just customers to me – they become an extension of me. They are iRONix Design Suite, and I want them represented in the best way possible. Keeping that mindset has allowed my business to grow and expand to many different cities and organizations. The journey through building iRONix has not been easy, there are so many days I’ve literally quit – but will quickly be reminded of how important and necessary my gift to design is. If there is anything I want people to know it’s that you truly can turn you dreams into reality. No, it is not easy. Yes, you will quit a million and one times, but never give up on your dreams. One day the right people, clients or whatever will show up and blow your mind.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love hosting friends in the city, literally it’s one of my favorite things to do. Usually on the first day I keep things light. When in Atlanta I tell everyone they have to get wings because ya know – we love wings in Atlanta, haha. Clays Sports Bar and Grill is hands down one of my favorite wing Spots in Sandy Springs. Jessica is one of the best waitresses in Georgia without a shadow of doubt. Im a sucker for all things artsy, so museums such as the High Museum of Art, the Aquariums, as well as the Trap Museum are places I would definitely take friends upon their arrival. I’ve also curated this makeshift Tyler Perry tour, showing friends and family his studio, as well as the home used in many of his movies. Lastly Amicalola Falls is a mountain I love taking friends to, the water fall is simply amazing.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to actually dedicate my shout out to my grandmother. I initially moved to Atlanta in 2012, and my grandmother accompanied me on the journey here. Before she left to go back to Virginia she whispered the words “make grandma proud down here”, and those words have stuck with me since. Though she is not physically here with me any longer, I strive to make her proud daily.
