We had the good fortune of connecting with ROLLA (MusicSmileWitME) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi ROLLA (MusicSmileWitME), why did you pursue a creative career?
Why I AM pursuing an artistic/creative career is, every since I can remember as a little girl I’ve been singing (I came out of my mother’s womb singing) and would sing along with my mother as a young toddler. I’ve always been attracted to the arts (ALL ART) mimicking different cartoon characters to stand-up comedians. While growing up and being in school I was always told I was the Class Act which I kept to heart because it became my youtube channel’s name (giggling shy, the Act N’ Klass) I LOVE entertaining and being in front of the camera although I AM very shy and PRIVATE I use my art to express myself so I don’t feel necessarily judged, if that makes sense through my art and art in general I AM FREE to be ME!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from other artists is I am always and have been assumed as a rapper which I AM NOT and I don’t present myself as a typical singer as MOST think or assume a singer should look like. Proudly I can say I can not be compared to any singer/artist that is currently out or popular (another words I don’t sound like any artist known) although I’ve been compared to Mary J. Blige, & Ms. Lauryn Hill. What I am most proud of is with profound work & consistency I was honored by Tunecore with an award by surpassing 10k streams of play with my song titled “WORTH” it was a very emotional feeling of excitement with many more feelings of I CAN definitely accomplish more and much BIGGER since surpassing such a huge number of 10k. What I am excited about is to be in the studio writing NEW Material and setting up, Up and coming performance dates along with building my youtube channel to gain more exposure in building a much more wider audience foundation. Where I am professionally has not been easy I AM a BLACK Woman with that said I have to work three times as hard because as JAMES BROWN stated it’s a man’s world but at the same time I feel like it’s easier for a man but especially if the man is WHITE but besides all that I do not let that discourage my doings of Succeeding I rather take a challenge and run with it instead of running away from it my mojo is what makes me stronger makes me WISER!! The Lesson in itself is I DON’T Falter on anything because it’s ONLY TEMPORARY and with every situation it brings you to a purpose. What I want the world to know is my story may be relatable or it may not be but I have a story that has impacted me in many forms in how I see things and do things as a whole, but I am very passionate about my music I share my voice (the instrument, the gift I was blessed with) to all the world because with a singing voice that is POWER!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am from Boston, Massachusetts so I’d be taking my friend on a historic tour of my state/city and of course showing off the top pop food spots to eat, bowling is a definite favorite and I can not forget FENWAY PARK where the Boston Red Sox play like it’s seriously way to much to list because my state is just that AWESOME we hold many stories of history, music talents that have come from Boston as of currently as well and etc. I don’t think a week would be long enough, lol. BOSTONIAN BEAN for LIFE!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
MYSELF & My Beautiful Wife! The reason why I say myself is because I HAVE NOT given up on myself, for all that I have been through GOD knows I could have and many of times felt like I had no choice but to give up everything but having my wife and her uplifting mentorship she helped ME out of those dark thoughts and moments so the shout out would definitely go to MY WIFE & MYSELF!!
