We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I chose to pursue an artist career for many reasons. The main reason is I love working with my hands designing and creating things from scratch. I love finding inspiration to solve problems creatively. When I’m designing the feature walls I just love making my clients thoughts, ideas and dreams a reality
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an accent/feature wall artist. I create intricate designs on Interior walls with wood trim, I also do painted wall murals for celebrity’s, homeowners and business. Their are other feature wall artist but what sets me apart is my style not many artist have my vision I pride my self in taking on the jobs that others wouldn’t dare. I love solving problems creatively most of my designs require a lot of math, vision and fineness. It wasn’t easy to get to where I’m at today. I started out as a handy man taking on odd jobs to pay the bills. I worked for many contractors getting underpaid not knowing my worth. I made many mistakes but I learned from them and they gave me the experience and confidence that I have today. My first feature wall i basically did for free for my cousin I just wanted to get the experience and practice to test it out. I’ve learned there is no easy road to success you have to believe in yourself stay consistent and never be scared to fail. Jones designs will be bigger than me I wanted to create something I can pass down to my sons I want to create a legacy that will be talked about for years to come.people will remember the name Jones designs
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend was visiting I would definitely have to take him to one of the comedy shows I enjoy a good laugh maybe somewhere like Kats cafe. My friends know I like being active one of those days we would have to go on a trail to hike my favorite spot to hike is sweet water creek. Another day we would have to go to an arcade maybe main event or top golf. I would also plan to check out some of the local art museums my favorites are the trap museum and the high museum. Every day we would try some different food spots Atlanta has some of my favorite food spots I can even choose one I love sushi and seafood Kuroshio is definitely at the top of my list. Last but not least we would have to make some time to get some hood hoop sessions in at the la fitness
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First off I want to thank god for blessing me with this gift and the opportunity. I want to thank my wife Brandi Jones for always supporting me and believing me even when business wasn’t good always motivated me to chase my dreams no matter what. I want to give credit to my father who taught me most of what I know when it comes to art, wood working and life lesson on being a good man . since I was a little boy I always helped my dad with his wood working projects we would build something every other weekend. My dad is also very artist and I used to always look at his sketch books and study then I would try to develop my skills to his standards and show him my progress. My dad was my role model he was a man of many talents and I always strived to be just like him.
