We had the good fortune of connecting with Riyah My’Ani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Riyah, how do you think about risk?
When it comes to risks, I feel as though you should always run towards the thing you’re scared of. Life is too short, and you’ll never know what’s lying on the other side of that fear if you don’t take a leap of faith. Taking the risk of putting myself out there on YouTube and social media has brought me several opportunities. It has led me to meeting amazing people, breaking out of my comfort zone, and assisted me with getting on the path to where I aspire to be in life.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a lifestyle creator who has gradually documented my growth as a young black woman. I’ve always had a creative perspective on life and I showcase that within my content. It wasn’t easy and still isn’t easy to achieve new heights, however I have a strong tendency to educate myself on the things in which I’m passionate about. I believe that success comes from hard work, and by putting God first & learning self discipline, I’ve been able to overcome several challenges. I want the world to know how passionate I am about becoming rightfully noticed within the content community. My goal is to inspire other girls to be themselves and to live a fun and positive lifestyle. Therefore my content is very real & relatable, but also fun and colorful !! Life isn’t always the easiest or the happiest, however there’s always a way to endure and overcome.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I was born and raised on the East Side of Atlanta, Georgia so I’d definitely tell them to visit Edgewood/Kirkwoood. My itinerary would include going to my favorite authentic pizza spot called Little Azio, grabbing something sweet from either Morelli’s Ice Cream or Insomnia Cookies, and then doing some window shopping in Little Five Points. Then as the sun sets we could head a few minutes down the road to Starlight Drive-In to catch a movie. This is something my sister Brianna and I did a lot growing up, so I love sticking to my roots & traditions.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I first and foremost owe all of my accomplishments and success to God !! I’m a huge believer in faith, and everything has happened for a reason in which God has planned for me. I’d also like to shoutout my family members who have been so supportive of me, especially my parents. They have always told me to follow my dreams, and make sure I have what I need to be successful. Lastly I have to shoutout my little cousin Kobie. He’s my #1 supporter, therefore I have to be the best role model possible, and give him the tools to succeed as well.
