We had the good fortune of connecting with Ritchie Thomas, A Soldier’s Coach and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ritchie, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I want to help one million soldiers/veterans build their dreams and grow into who they were destined to become; my dream is to help get them through their nightmare(s)….
At the very end, I’d hope to have loved on a million, than make a million
What should our readers know about your business?
As a military speaker and coach, my goal is to help you re-imagine your life, especially during your transition to civilian life. With extensive experience in life and a vast history of business success, my individualized positive approach will help you attain your goals. My primary focus is to get you to transition from a soldier’s mindset to a business professional’s mindset.
I’m most proud of my sincere commitment to the growth of others.
I got to where I am, by making an effort to help my ‘past self’ soldiers….it was not easy by any means.
The lesson I’ve learned is that we are all living breathing miracles, but many of us (myself included) get caught up in thoughts of doubt/negativity, habits of mediocrity, and these ‘mental glass-ceilings’, which combine to distract us from the miracle within us.
I want the world to know that there is a greater version of themselves, often buried in the hole in their heart–often in the shape of their struggle; take time to find your purpose, your peace, and this greater version of you. I got your back.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
(Denzel voice) My man…
so listen, I’m not real big on itineraries, lets just see where the moment takes us–
1. Breakfast/brunch at West EGG (I prefer to go early mid-week to avoid the 2 hr. wait). We can go w/ shrimp and grits (best in the state, fight me) or the omellete, either way, these mimosas won’t drink themselves (we’ll start w/ 2.5 😉).
2. Rooftop sushi on O-ku for lunch
3. Buford, Mother#@$% Highway –> Sweet Hut lattes & a side trip to 678 Korean BBQ
4. Dinner at Superica on Krog St. (chef’s kiss), I’d fight my mother for the last CAMARONES BROCHETAS
5. I’m 38, so monthly massages are pretty much a necessity at this point, 😑 , shout out LeHua Spa on Cobb Pkwy.
6. Jeju Sauna to get our breathing right ❤️🙏🏽
7. Cant’ come to ATL and not hit Waffle House, All-Star specials all around, eggs scrambled w/ cheese of course
8. Agave on Boulevard, the salmon tostadas, my gawd and margaritas to go
9. Early visits to Top Golf (I hate crowds)
10. Stop by WhaleButt HQ 👀
11. Swing by East ATL Village & hit We Suki Suki
12. Sundays rooftop at Six Feet Under is always a go-to
13. Swing by and support my folks at Russell Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and see if we can invest in some startups 👊🏽
14. People watch at Piedmont is always a move
Last stop, selfies on Jackson St. Bridge 👊🏽❤️
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
