We had the good fortune of connecting with RiRi and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RiRi, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Habits are what breed success to me. In business there are a few things you can manipulate a few things that’ll work out in your favor but creating a pattern I know for sure is one thing that keeps you in peoples conversation. Our minds remind us of things we’ve seen and heard. With that and business together, I can vouch for outcomes that exceed expectations simply because of consistency and habitual marketing.

For example, I introduced selling memberships in 2018. However I didn’t make my first sale until 2019. With consistent strategies you can almost always stimulate success.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Wow, to think I’ve accomplished so much I’m so little time. My mentality is so different and I strive for greatness everyday. Since a child I’ve always had a passion for fashion. Anytime my cousins or my mother braided my hair, id take mental notes on techniques, tools and products. I took what I could remember and applied it to my mannequin dolls for styling. Eventually I started going to professional salons, which deepend my curiosity. I’ve worked in a few salons, even my own salon where I picked up more techniques to brush up on my skill. Being self taught is not for the weak. It’s plenty of days I felt uncertain about my purpose in life. By now I have 2 daughters. After a few years in college I finally received to quite school and work strictly on my business and myself. I knew I wanted to own property, have a good savings and carry on a debt free, FREE life. Being a young mother I needed flexibility, I found that in business. I was always scholastic, but I wanted to be an entrepreneur. So that’s what I set my mode on. My family, naturally thought I was crushing the rest of the life I could’ve had. There were words and situations where I felt alone but I had hopes that if Oprah, and Rihanna and Taraji P Henson can experience success, then I can too. The Bronner Bros hair expo in Atlanta, had always been my dream, even just to go and patronize. Plenty of people told me I couldn’t, yet I am and I’m so glad that I get to share with all of you!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
First thing’s first we have to get something to eat. I love fly food. The new places in Atlanta are above the fast food standard and I try to get a taste all the time. The brunch spots like ATL Breakfast club, Rosie’s and Breakfast @ Barney’s are good places to start. I have not tried Toast but I hear all good things. Maybe some wings or or seafood for a lunch. Even though the food truck lots have good food on Lee Street and downtown. Atlanta is the hub for different foods. I love the idea of Thai restaurants and Italian inspired places can coexist in the same area.

Comedy shows, basketball games, concerts, shows and clubs. I try to experience Atl all the way now that I’m older. We also have some of the best views that showcase the city.

I also enjoy working out so of course a gym or Stone Mountain are great options. Sometimes I use both in the same day.

Atlanta is a melting pot for all things cultural from all cultures and I appreciate having dibs on everything. We literally have everything, except a beach!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My children has helped with my business and my personal. I love my babies so much they don’t even know who I’ve grown to become because of them. They were my 1st models in my children salon hair journey. I used their heads to create new styles and encouraged my clients with trust, with all the help of McKenzie and Eliza. I’m grateful to have them as well as my sister Tank. She is my Robin. She will make a lay up ANYTIME! Not only is she my assistant, Tank helps me with my daily life of running errands, picking up my children from school, therapy, because it’s really hard trying to level when it’s so much weight on your shoulders. I find so much comfort in my sister, I try at her completely and I can’t wait to share my success with her!
