We had the good fortune of connecting with Rikki McCoy and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rikki, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Balance is a necessity. They key is not in always keeping balance, but in being able to go with the flow of life and adjust accordingly creating balance on a daily basis. What is needed to balance yourself may change day to day. It is important to be able to check in with yourself in the mornings. To give yourself time, before you give it to anyone else, and ask yourself how you feel and what you need in that moment. That will determine your to-do list, your goals, and your needs for that day.

What should our readers know about your business?
Flourishing Minds is a group practice providing virtual and face to face therapy in the state of Georgia. Our mission is “Helping clients move from survival to a flourishing state of mind.” We provide a safe non-judgmental space for client to feel safe being their most authentic selves. The business started as a solo practice, and continues to grow into a group practice. Getting here was not easy, but consistency is key. Being authentic in who I am has helped me tremendously grow my brand. Clients want a therapist they can relate to. Who is non-judgmental, but still keeps things “real”. Because of the business I have been able to grow my own brand “Therapy With Rikki” where I offer supervision, business consulting, and digital products.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love to eat so restaurants are a thing in my world. Fine dining experiences may include Little Alley Steak. If we are going to eat, relax, and enjoy some music Pasha is one of my favorite places to go enjoy a good drink and music. Depends on who is coming, but I enjoy Fellaship and the grown and sexy Cigar crowd. I enjoy spoken word and am always down to go to Apache Cafe. I can also be caught doing yoga at Stellar Power Yoga, or enjoying a nice spa day at Chateau Elan. Exhale Spa, or the Four Seasons.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to take this time to shoutout the therapists on staff at Flourishing Minds. Because of them I am able to keep my dream going and help as many people as possible with their mental health and wellness. I want to thank the therapists for trusting in me and my vision. For allowing me to serve as a mentor and give them the tools needed to believe in themselves and their abilities to do this work. Having a team has been very beneficial to me, to our clients, and to the community.
