We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricky Griffin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ricky, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My entrepreneurial journey began during my high school years when a track injury temporarily sidelined me. Seeking a creative outlet, I borrowed my father’s camera and began capturing moments for the track team, filling a void that no one else had addressed. Although I paused photography to prioritize my graduation, the spark had been ignited. Upon entering college, I realized it was time for a rebranding and reignited my passion for photography, this time focusing on capturing events across Georgia. This experience not only honed my skills but also solidified my commitment to pursuing photography as a career.”

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art is a reflection of my unique perspective and creative vision, characterized by a blend of storytelling, emotion, and technical skill. What sets me apart is my dedication to capturing moments that resonate deeply with viewers, evoking thought and emotion through my photographs.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to continuously evolve and refine my craft, always pushing boundaries and exploring new techniques. I find excitement in the endless possibilities that digital creation offers, from experimenting with different styles to collaborating with other artists.

My journey to where I am today professionally has been anything but easy. I’ve faced numerous challenges, from self-doubt to financial struggles, but each obstacle has ultimately strengthened my resolve and fueled my determination to succeed. I’ve learned the importance of perseverance, resilience, and staying true to my artistic vision, even in the face of adversity.

One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned along the way is the power of community and collaboration. Surrounding myself with supportive friends and mentors has been instrumental in my growth as an artist. Additionally, I’ve come to embrace failure as an opportunity for growth and learning, understanding that each setback is a stepping stone towards success.

What I want the world to know about me and my brand is that I’m passionate about using my art to make a positive impact, whether it’s through raising awareness about social issues or simply bringing joy to others. My story is one of resilience, creativity, and unwavering determination, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their passions fearlessly.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d take them to the Georgia Aquarium to see amazing sea creatures, then grab burgers at The Varsity. After that, we’d explore the BeltLine for cool street art and vibes. For drinks, we’d hit up Ponce City Market’s rooftop for awesome views and maybe some ice cream.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d like to express my heartfelt gratitude to my parents for their unwavering support and encouragement in nurturing my passion for photography, allowing my creative talents to flourish. Additionally, I am incredibly thankful to my friends, fellow emerging digital creators, whose mentorship and continuous inspiration have propelled me forward, pushing me to embrace new learning opportunities every single day.
