We had the good fortune of connecting with Rickkita Riddick and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rickkita, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
My purpose and life experiences led me to start my nonprofit organization. My purpose is to help others and using the trials and tribulations I went through led the way for my organization’s formation.
What should our readers know about your business?
What sets us apart from everyone else is that we not only give back, but also connect with our community. We strive to feed the mind, body, and spirit. Getting to where we are today was not easy; however, being consistent and persistent is what got us here. Along the way we learned that building long lasting relationships matter. We are all healing in some way and it takes a village. When sisters touch and agree, I heal you and you heal me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first place we would go is to the Bee and Biscuit for brunch, their food and atmosphere are amazing. We would go to the oceanfront and stroll on the strip to sight see. We would take pictures at the neptune statue and go on a dolphin tour. The next day we would visit town center and eat at Yardhouse during happy hour followed by a show at the Funnybone. Friday night we would head to Granby St. in Norfolk to enjoy the night life. We would also visit the Mermaid Winery and tour the facility and sample the drinks. Going back to the oceanfront to ride jet skis is also a must.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shout out to my boys, Rashawn and Andre. They were the motivation and drive I needed to fuel me to become the Entrepreneur I am today. I also would like to recognize my sister and vice president, Nicole Atkins, for always pushing me to be the best version of myself as well as being a driving force with our organization.
