Meet Reuben Shaw | Actor, Filmmaker, Artist, Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Reuben Shaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Reuben, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The passion that I have for the entertainment industry and the experiences that I was fortunate to be apart of drove me to starting my company Reupurview. Having family in the industry had exposed me to specfic aspects that I wanted to be involved in at a very young age and I knew I could be successful if I just decided to step in the game myself when the time was right and I had attained the knowledge, experience, and education needed to build a brand in todays society.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got into the entertainment game in my early 20’s placing some music on VH1’s show “Single Ladies” I was fortunate to meet some popular music producers at that time and they mentored me teaching me the ins and outs of the industry so to say. I started working with the likes of Hip Hop Legends Daddy O and interned at the great Icon Studios in Atlanta meeting a range of artist and aspiring talent. Fortunately, through my journey my mentors introduced me to other figures of the industry who got me involved with the film side of entertainment and I was able to be apart of many different productions as the city of Atlanta started booming with film and telivision weather it be behind the scenes as a assistant, a writer of treatments, director, and actor. As time progressed the opportinities becaome bigger getting features in a few major movies and appearing in tv shows. And this ultamatley has led me to the desire and the actions of producing my own films and passing on the knowlege of the industry to those who are following in my footsteps.

I would say nothing in life is easy but when you love doing something you don’t dwell on the times that were hard. I overcame my challenges by having faith in God. Thats my story and I’m sticking to it.

I’ve learned never give up on the things you love, the people your love, or anything that drives you. Live your life make your dreams a reality nothing can stop you but you.

I just want the world to know I did it my way.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d take my best friend to Vegas and we’d go to the MGM and gamble our ass off and have time of our lives. I’d eat whatever I want, I’d drink water and Henny, and I’d hang out by the pool to sober up only to turn up the next day.

In my view I think everyone should go to Jamaica and Africa at least once in their lives.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I just want to give a special shoutout to all the talented individuals that I have come across in my life everyone has been an inspiration in some way shape or form. My drive is fueled by the support I’ve been fortunate to encounter throughout my career. If I have to be specific though I’ll just shout out my entire family!
