We had the good fortune of connecting with RENATE SIMPSON-TRUSSELL and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RENATE, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success that I’ve had so far has been my PASSION. Oprah Winfrey quoted, “PASSION IS ENERGY. Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you.” For me, my passion of dance is what excites me. Assisting people to become healthier and a better version of themselves means the world to me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Dance Fitness Instructor… specializing in Zumba® & Mixxedfit®. As you know Zumba® is an aerobic fitness program featuring movements inspired by various styles of Latin American dance and performed primarily to Latin American dance music. I started my dance fitness career back in 2011. I later became a Mixxedfit® instructor 2016 which by definition is a people inspired fitness program that combines explosive dance movements with body weight toning. What sets me apart from others is how I make my students feel. You can have zero dance experience and still walk away feeling as if you just won “Dancing with the Stars”. Its all about connecting and engaging with my students. And for me, I make it a point to connect with each and every one of them. I make sure to chose choreography that’s easy enough to catch on but also challenging. In this business, it takes a lot of heart, dedication & humility. You have to understand, as a dance fitness instructor; you have to be your own cheerleader… you have to be creative & resilient… & you have to be dedicated to working hard. Having said all of that… I truly love what I do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came into town… First, I would take her to the iconic “Stone Mountain Park” for a hike up the mountain. I would then take her to one of my favorite places to eat “Thumbs Up” cafe for lunch. I’m all about enjoying the outdoors… we would then go to the “Roswell Mill” to let our dogs frolic and play. For drinks and to just unwind, I would then take her to “Ceviche” in downtown Roswell.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I want to recognize my husband of 29 years. He’s been my biggest supporter and challenges me to do my very best. Also, I want to recognize Robyn Adams & Ginger King. These ladies took me under their wing and helped me tremendously in the beginnings of my dance fitness career.
