We had the good fortune of connecting with Renada Hoskins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Renada, how do you think about risk?
I love the phrase “no risk, no reward.” If you are not willing to take risks in life then you aren’t willing to challenge yourself to your greatest potential. There are no guarantees in life and even if you do not get your desired result you will learn something along the journey. Starting a business in an industry that I knew nothing about was a huge risk for me because I invested my money in an area that was completely foreign to me. The return has been great because of all the knowledge that I’ve gained. Although I have an MBA, I didn’t truly understand what it takes to run a business until I became an entrepreneur.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am founder and CEO of Renata’s Boutique. Renata’s Boutique is an online boutique where I provide home decor, travel totes and accessories. Shopping at Renata’s Boutique is not just shopping but it’s shopping with a purpose. Many of the brands that we offer are minority and women owned businesses. We also offer products that are fair trade, ethical, and sustainable. Giving back to the community is one of my biggest passions and I strive to do that in all of my efforts.

Speaking of giving back to the community, I recently founded a 501c3 tax exempt organization that is an extension of the Regular Ren brand. Regular Ren is a leather brand that focuses not only on creating high-quality travel totes and accessories but also on serving the community. The Regular Ren Foundation mission is to improve the quality of life for senior citizens, homeless, and disabled individuals.

What sets us apart from others is our genuine humanitarian efforts. We aren’t just selling products, we are serving the community. Creating a brand is challenging and it’s never ending. There are many late nights and the work is never done. I overcome each challenge by keep going. I’ve come too far and have too many people watching to stop now. I want the world to know that I may pivot and restructure many times but quitting is not an option.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting the area we would head to MadLuLu Cafe in Covington, GA after breakfast for some bubble tea and good laughs. Hopefully the owner will be there and she will chat with us about being a black female entrepreneur. She always have great convo. Then we would go to 368 Nail Bar in the Kroger Plaza off of 138 in Conyers. We can get a mani/pedi while we sip on some wine. Then, after the mani/pedi we will head “across the street” to Milano’s Italian Restaurant to eat a late lunch and have their house wine. After all this wine, I will probably head to my house take a nap, change clothes, and have my God-daughter ATL MUA @zaiya.yonce to come over and give us a make over. Then a driver will take us along with some other friends to Tongue and Groove for food and dancing and then end the night at the Clermont Hotel Rooftop Bar. The metro Atlanta area is full of interesting places and people so it’s never a dull moment.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people that have helped me along this journey. I would like to give a huge shout out to my mother who has shown me what independence looks like. I would also like to thank my husband and children for all of their support. Their support and admiration keeps me going even when I’m discouraged. My parents, grandparents, sisters, friends, extended family, and mentors have all played a vital role in my success. I have a great support system and I am truly blessed to have them in my life.
