Meet Rena Lindquist | Serial Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rena Lindquist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rena, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I want to find the others who also have the same problem. I have started a few startups over the course of my life and some were successful and some were not. But the whole idea of creating from zero is what excites and motivates me. It’s like a building an empire where you are creating and building your base. And that is exactly why I never felt it as work but as something that I enjoy doing. There are a dozen ideas that I want to work on even right now, but I simply can’t. Because if I do that I won’t be able to focus on one and then it would end up being an average product rather than the best. Because no matter, what anyone tells you, you become better at something by spending more time on it. Of course you will have to put your mind to it. That’s a no brainer.
To wrap it up this would be my thought process
1. Identify a problem I am facing
2. Find out if I have the required skills to solve it
3. If yes, start. If no, find out if i can obtain those skills
4. Learn and start building
5. Don’t lose sight of the end picture.
These is the process that I follow. Ofcourse after the product is getting built, there are other aspects like marketing that you would have to straighten your prcess for. I would leave that for another question.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Following a hidden dream of being a makeup, aesthetician and fashion stylist is a passion I put blood, sweat and tears into. Born and raised in US Virgin Islands, you are taught that you must work for what you want, nothing comes easy. My parents taught me to always follow our passion in life because that was the key to happiness. So, at first, I thought I was following my passion when I graduated from High School in the Virgin Islands, I left the island and went to college to study Cyber Security & Information Technology. While in college I made the Dean’s list as a double bachelor in cybersecurity and information; working hard, but still felt something was missing. I was not feeling that happiness my parents told me of when you follow your passion. I ended up questioning what I was doing. When I moved from PA; I lived in NC there I would mess around with make-up for fun, and all my friends there would ask me to do their faces and style them. I thought nothing of it but enjoyed making people look beautiful. It wasn’t until I moved to FL that I truly found my passion in being an aesthetician and fashion stylist. During the pandemic, I really dove into self-care, beauty and fashion. When I was little, I used to be in my grandmother’s pink room. We called it this because she was a Mary Kay director in The Virgin Islands, who would have thought that what I loved to be around as a kid would be the true calling, the joy my parents talked about. Thinking back even with my mom always having designer shoes and clothes; like Prada, Manolo, Jim Choo, Louis to name a few. Fashion and trends were a part of my DNA. With my passion, I opened my first suite in Orlando, FL where in this Spa location there were aestheticians and waxing services by a group of other people. There my eyes were opened to a whole new world that would increase my passion to become limitless. This is when Xena Liberte was born. I researched to see the best way for me to expand; and that is what brought me to Atlanta, GA. Here I attended Elaine Sterling Institute where I became a licensed aesthetician, Makeup artist and Fashion Stylist. It’s here in Atlanta, GA. I opened my second suite and brought Xena Liberte to Life. Xena Liberte has been flushing with production deals , movie sets and much more. I am Serena Lindquist AKA Rena Royel with all the ups and downs I will keep climbing.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would invite them to the belt line on Krog street. Krog street has food , drink , nature walk and the vibes are immaculate, but I would also take them to my hometown the Virgin Islands! Where it’s nothing but good vibes , good food and surround with good people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my support system and my business partner Chris Williams.
