We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, how do you think about risk?
I think my middle name should be risk. Risk was quitting a 9-5 job 21 years ago and joining my husband in becoming an entrepreneur. Risk was opening a mechanic shop as everything was shutting down as Covid reared it’s ugly head in 2020. Risk is purchasing a 6500 square foot building in August of 2021 and turning it into an oasis in the middle of Covid and inflation. Risk is taking everything that we have and putting it into Platinum Beauty Bar & Spa, knowing that it will pay off in the end. Being a small business owner and self-employed is always a risk, but what could be more scary and rewarding then having your destiny in your own hands?

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business is Platinum Beauty Bar & Spa, a retreat located 30 minutes outside of Atlanta in Conyers. We are a one-stop oasis with so many amenities. We have a full menu of massage services, aesthetician services, oxygen bar, private chef dining, private VIP bungalow, relaxing gardens, steam sauna, jacuzzi room, full body waxing, full-service nail bar and event space.

How did I get to where I am today? I feel as though I am still a work in progress. I have a long way to go to be truly successful. Owning a small business is never easy. There are times when you pay your staff and there is nothing left for yourself to take home. There are times when you don’t know how the ends are going to meet for the business or your personal finances. There are times when you are so tired that you don’t know how you are going to keep going; but you get up the next morning and do it all over again. My husband said this to me when I became an entrepreneur; “This business has to be your baby. It comes first before anything else, even your own kids.” I thought that was crazy at the time, nothing can come before my own kids; but I learned that it is so true. There were missed football games and cheerleading practices because the business baby came first.

I just want the world to know about our brand. Marketing has been such a huge challenge since the beginning of this business. We opened our doors December 10, 2022 and so many even in our immediate community do not know that we are here. When people come to tour our facility they cannot believe it. They feel as if they are transported into a vacation destination. I want people to know that we are laser focused on providing the utmost in customer service and providing all of our guests with an unmatched experience.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well of course I would start with Platinum Beauty Bar & Spa. How could we go even one day without a spa day? We would spend it in the private bungalow, with every service the spa has to offer and being waited on hand and foot.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to my staff; who come every day and help to pull the wagon up the hill. They treat our guests with the utmost of dignity and respect, continuously provide them with excellent service and make them want to keep coming back for more.
