We had the good fortune of connecting with Raymonn Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raymonn, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe our creativity is what makes us truly unique. I like to do things in places no one has thought of before. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a small venue or large, being able to create custom layouts is one of the most enjoyable parts of what I do. For example, it’s one thing to host an event in a beautiful $7000 facility, but how many can take an empty warehouse and make it look just as good or better than the expensive space while spending a fraction of the price? I like challenges and I enjoy the work that comes with it which makes me a little driven and little crazy which is needed sometimes.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As the owner of Nightlife Concierge LLC, my objective is to be a driving force in the creation and execution of upscale events of all types for the Memphis area. The twist is that we do this in unique venues and establishments not necessarily known for hosting events. Doing this builds brand awareness for the venues we select while giving our customers and followers a fresh set of options to celebrate life. When you check into a hotel or resort, you trust the advice of the Concierge and get pointed in the right direction. That is how I view myself. There are many talented promoters and event planners in Memphis so originality and distinction are key to standing out. I am most proud of how we market. I don’t publish flyers with my face or name on them, I rarely promote from my personal page, and we are able to routinely sell out events. A good event whether it be a brunch, day party, gala, etc. is not all about the organizer, it’s about the quality of the event and delivering on whatever it is you advertised. That is a source of pride for me surely. I had the pleasure of hosting “Brunchella” a Day Party Brunch in March that certainly has set the tone for the immediate future. There are so many things I want to show my city and I’m just beginning to hit my stride. The arrow is pointed up!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well off the top, I’m a foodie so we are about to eat before we do ANYTHING. Breakfast at Staks, Brother Juniper, Stoney River, or Eggxactly is a must. We could burn that off walking Big River Crossing, the Massive Crosstown Concourse, or walking around Overton Square. Afternoons are for happy hour so we will make our rounds to some the city’s best patios like Babalu or Side Street Grill in Midtown or maybe The Curfew, or Central Station Downtown . We may go check out Stax or the Lorraine Hotel or maybe walk the river in Harbor Town. If we we’re in Harbor town Tugs is a must by day and the Terrace by night for that sexy vibe. As the night falls we will definitely visit the Weekend Hang Suite, Love Lounge, the Hu Hotel Rooftop, Manhattan, or The Tailors Union, to name a few. Wash, rinse, repeat. There are simply a million and five places to get the best BBQ, Seafood, Soul food, Fried Chicken, Hot Wings, and more in the M-Town and we do it better than Erbody!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s hard to single out one person since an entire Village helped guide me to this point, But this shoutout is to my Mother(s). My Mom (Sonjia M.) always had a knack for entertaining and understanding the ins and outs of the bougie more upscale events. Her expertise ranges from Culinary, to Visual presentation and of course she’s Ma. My mother-in-law (Wilma B.) was a highly detailed planner that archived every idea, bought and stocked inventory for events that weren’t even planned yet etc. She was a meticulous woman and that is me 10 times over. I’m blessed and fortunate to still have my mother but lost my Mother in law in 2018 and it’s still hard to accept at times. I wish she was here to see how much I have learned from her over the years and to see the success that is on the horizon. I vow to show up and show out each and every time I put on something for my people and I will never settle for anything less than Greatness as that is what she, Mama, and my whole tribe want for me.
