We had the good fortune of connecting with Ray Katanna and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ray, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
That hard work is the key to success. I know people that work 3 jobs and way more hours than me yet arent earning nearly the same income as I am. The key to success is SMART work. You pay for what you dont know have in information.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The biggest thing about my art in my opinion is that it shows a different side of me. It highlights both my upbringing in poverty while still exploring my current lifestyle as a full time entrepreneur and bachelor… yes bachelor.

I got here because Ive been blessed to have what I like to call 3D vision, Discipline , Discernment and Detachment those are the key ingredients in my recipe for current and future success.
The journey has NEVER been easy but I dont expect it to be because I feel I truly have a higher calling.
When you have unwavering confidence and faith in God then anything is possible. I credit my late mother for instilling Islam and God into my life at a young age and its allowed me to see things into fruition by trusting the most high.

Ive learned along this journey that it truly is about consistency…everything.
If you want to get far then you have to be willing to do the little things everyday to get the big results, most of the times its the things most people dont want to do.

Id like the world to know that my success has been contingent on helping other people. You do have to do your own personal inner work to be able to help others but there is no amount of money or materialistic things that can compare to actually improving someones life, saving them or making them money and or time. Id like to be a pioneer when it comes to how music business is done transparently as an independent Artist myself and how entrepreneurship is viewed from a D I Y perspective.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We have to go to DJs gotta get the crack wings. Then it’s up to ponce city I think they have some of the best views of the sunset.
For the night we gotta pop out depending on the mood…Im not too far from Magic City gotta show my dancers some live too.
We would have to go shopping too, Id rather do Perimeter mall over Lennox but that’s just me. Gypsy Kitchen too rooftop classy and some of the best Brussels sprouts you’ll ever taste all in one.
A few other spots I like to go are the High Art Museum, The Battery and the East Side of the city …so much culture there.

Of Course! my team EDST ! Everyday Success Team ! They’ve been the most pivotal piece in my journey as an entrepreneur and an Artist alike. Having a group of men and women dedicated to learning industry leading skills and pouring good energy into each other has made me the person I am today.
