We had the good fortune of connecting with Raven Russell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Raven, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
I would say the decision to believe in myself! There was a period of time when I let self doubt keep me from pursuing a lot of things. I decided to believe in me 100% and my life changed for the better! I am more confident in myself which means I am more comfortable in my business. There was no way I was going to be able to pour into other people if I didn’t even properly know how to take care of myself. I decided the temporary pain could be turned into something far greater than me!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Mommy’s Girl focuses on providing all girls and women, who have lost their mothers, a safe haven to still build confidence, direction, and receive unlimited mentorship. Our team is filled with women who have been through the journey of moving forward without their mothers. We have different initiatives each month that are in place to help women better cope with their experience. Our personal experiences is what makes our organization stand out! Women who come to us can be assured that we have been through the same thing and give real solutions to their issues. We have came a long way in the past 7 months and it has been far from easy. Everyday we are forced to face the reality of our mother’s are no longer here. We’ve made a decision to turn our pain into promises so that we are able to help all women daily! Mommy’s Girl has taught us our own strength! We never knew how strong we were until strength was our only option. I want the world to know that this organization is one that will change the world. The dynamic women that run it, have been through the unthinkable and there is nothing we are not equipped for!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first stop would be Blu Cantina for the 3 meat Quesadillas! They are located off of cramp creek and its always a good vibe. We would have to go to the selfie museum next because all my girls love pictures! We would end our night with a girls sip and paint at one of our houses! I am a fun and simple girl! I know how to make the best out of just about anything. My besties would have a blast regardless of what we do in the city!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Mom has influenced me in so many ways! It is only right that I dedicate this shoutout to her. I always tell people the short period of time I had with my mommy molded me into the person I am today! I Will never be able to thank her enough for all the things she has instilled in me.

I also have to shout out the team! Mommy’s girl would not run as smoothly as it does with out LaQueda, Jessica, Briana, and Alexis. Everyday is not perfect just like with any family, but at the end of the day we manage to come together and build an empire! I love you ladies!

Everyone who has poured into my life positively over the years, I owe so much gratitude to all of you!
