We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasheed Hamid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rasheed, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My thought process behind starting Extra Hands was simply to position myself outside of the employee workforce. To create a position in which I could create jobs for others and run this business from anywhere. The initial approach was to be the virtual assistant myself. In the beginning, my thought process did not involve a team. As the business began to grow, it become evident very quickly that I had tapped into a service that many entrepreneurs, small and medium businesses, and even non-profit organizations and special interest groups needed. We created a way for people to have the support they need at a time of growth or bottleneck in a cost-efficient and productive manner. My desire was simple, how do I help the people who can’t afford to hire the full-time help they need?
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Extra Hands, we approach every client with our white-gloved attention to detail service and communication. I am most proud of our discovery process and our ability to unpack what virtual assistant service each client needs to regain time to focus on running their business. Getting to this place has not been easy because we live in constant digital disruption. Understanding digital disruption is the key to assessing my client’s needs and pain points. We have only achieved this by understanding the ability to pivot with shifting trends, needs, and remote work culture. It’s important that our clients understand that we know that they have options. Hiring a virtual assistant is easy and can be done in seconds. Hiring a virtual assistant with Extra Hands means receiving a thoughtful, unique strategy designed to assist you in the growth and development of your business while giving you time to focus on driving revenue and growth. We want the world to know that the true success of hiring a virtual assistant is utilizing them in your digital transformation.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m probably not the best tour guide these days, as I spend most of my time growing Extra Hands and helping other people grow their own businesses, however, I am a lover of art. My first stop would be the High Museum of Art. This museum never disappoints and always offers a diverse collection of art in a building that is also a work of art.
My next stop would be Piedmont Park. This sprawling park is a great place for a walk, a live show, or an unexpected market.
As far as food, there are too many places to name, but one thing is for sure – Atlanta has never been at a loss for amazing cuisine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I need to recognize Griselle Colon, of TXL Diverse Partners at this particular point of my business development.
