Meet Rashan Schoffner | Curator, Creative, Catalyst, Fly Guy, Storyteller, The Prototype

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashan Schoffner and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rashan, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I’m a proud Atlanta native raised in the SWATS, specifically Cascade! You know that CFA on the corner, I was one of the first hires, and that’s the brick and mortar that gave your boy his first paycheck! The Foot Locker in Greenbriar Mall worked there, too. What size you need?! Growing up in the A has played a large role in who I am today and who I show up as in the world. I often tell friends that being from Atlanta gives you an indescribable sense of pride and appreciation for BEING BLACK and being from the BEST CITY IN THE WORLD! Representation is so important, and Atlanta gave me that growing up. Seeing black professionals, doctors, black people in nice cars, black teachers, black pastors, and black families thriving was the push forward telling me, YOU CAN TOO! ATLANTA is oftentimes my WHY and reason to keep going. It’s so much bigger than me, and I’m just grateful God is using me. My hope is that I put on for my city and give a little boy who looks like me hope to show up and show out! Take up space, my boy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My creative journey started way back, with nothing more than a sketchbook and a camera permanently attached to my wrist. See, my grandpa schooled me on the art of drawing when I was in elementary school. Capturing the world around me through a lens became another obsession soon after. These two hobbies morphed into full-blown talents, sparking a fire within that ignited my passion for all things creative.
Here’s the thing: I realized my media production skills were like a universal remote. Everything, from a sketch on a page to a flick on screen, starts with an idea. That idea gets translated into a shot, and bam! You’ve got yourself the makings of a masterpiece, a creative production, if you will. It’s all about connecting the dots, and that’s what hooked me. I saw the potential to take a single spark and turn it into something truly groundbreaking.
Photography taught me visuals are subjective – just like no two people capture a moment the same, no two directors can birth the same project. That’s the beauty of individual creativity – a path that fuels curiosity and allows stories to come alive in unique ways.
Think creative powerhouse meets a visionary storyteller with a fly guy mentality, that’s me! A service oriented graduate of Howard University from the ATL, who specializes in breathing life into stories from ideation to execution. Passionate about using my creativity to uplift others, I advocate to push boundaries that create positive change. If you’re looking for a creative collaborator who brings a blend of expertise, dedication, and fresh perspective to the table, well, look no further.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Funny enough, my best friends Zakia and Jaden are both from the A so they know all the spots, but here’s the weekend I’d plan. Let me cook! Straight off the plane, first stop is J.R. Crickets for a 10 piece; you pick your poison, but I’m going for that 10pc Hot Lemon Pepper Sprinkle every time! Now that it’s food on our stomachs, we’re off to Baltimore Crab & Seafood to catch a vibe and drinks! Cheers! The next stop is Perimeter Mall and Shops of Buckhead, so you can blow a bag. You can’t come to the A and not get fly, the two just go together. Speaking of such, the next stop is my favorite store, Wish Atlanta on the East Side. They got what you need, everything you ain’t know you need, and everything in between. Hungry again?! I know. Let’s slide to Felini’s on Ponce for a slice of pizza, trust we sitting outside so you get the full experience. After that the sun should be setting. Let’s tap Your 3rd Spot for fun and games, slide to Terranga City to catch a vibe, and roll into night life back by the crib. When you see the sign and the lights, you know you made it to CASCADE! Whatever you do , don’t fall!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
When it comes to giving flowers, Imma cop the whole bouquet each time because my people deserve it! When they said it takes a village, they ain’t lie! Let’s roll the credits. Here’s everyone who made Rashan, Rashan! First and foremost, family over everything. My family has my heart; they’re my daily bread! Special shout out to my little sister Rhian and my sister-cousin Sydni; they keep me going! Bibi makes every day the best day, I thank God daily for a praying grandmother! You need a Bibi, too, but mine is taken! My grandpa, who I know would be proud of me! My aunties go to war behind me, and I love them for it! Hey, tt Asha. Hey, tt Shion! To my parents, thank you for giving me life and an aura that I can’t explain. I love you both! To the spaces that poured into me, giving me the courage and willpower to take up space, I thank you immensely. Black Rhino’s, NBMBAA LOT Program, Drew Charter, CFA on Cascade, Mark Holland, Karen Shropshire, HU Alumni Club of ATL, HU Royal Court, HU ELITE Models, My Heirs, The Black Man Lab, Ashley Young, Tara Davis, Uncle Silas, The Dorfeuilles , Team Hutch, Team Baynes, Christopher Chapman, David Ballard, my best friend Zakia Tookes, my boys, and last but not least, Jesus Christ the list goes on and I’m grateful!
