Meet Rasha Anderson | Fashion Designer & Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rasha Anderson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rasha, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had a dream one day that God had gave me and it was clothes. I continued to have these dreams but the designs were so original I knew I had to create them myself. The first thing I thought to do was go to the library and read every book possible about how to start a business and for tax purposes. Then I had a close friend of mine teach me how to sew. I was really nervous, but I didn’t want to sabotage myself, so I learned everything possible to give me the courage I needed to proceed. I started to really dress how I wanted and individuals would ask me to style them. The compliments and support that people gave me was the push I secretly needed to follow through with my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
What set me apart from others is the fact my designs are original, and I am most proud of taking a leap of faith and really believing that this would work and I am excited because it is! I made it this far to where I am today by being disciplined. I had to sacrifice sleep, my social life, and really focus on my goals. It was not easy because being young there is a lot to get into like going out, and things of that nature. I made sure to keep myself busy with learning how to be better at what I do. The most important thing that I have learned is when God tells you to do something don’t worry about where the money will come from, who will support, just simply do it and he will do the rest. I want the world to know that I am a survivor. I have experienced life at its lowest and life at its highest. I know what it’s like to be abandoned, physically abused, a single parent, full time student, and everything else life throws at you. I didn’t allow life to get the best of me or came up with excuses for myself. I shut myself down from the world, became closer to God and it really helped changed the way I looked at my life and the world. Everything I put my mind to do, I do it and it comes out successful. The most important part is that I make sure to find ways to give back to my community by feeding the homeless and giving to my church. I’ve discovered the more I give the more I receive. I went from being in the strip club to having my own business, and I am just getting started! I see my brand Shanah being all over the world and even in fashion week in Paris. I won’t stop dreaming and manifesting them into reality. Shanah is at its beginning stage like a newborn baby, but give it time and it will grow. As Shanah grows I plan to take action and do what is I love to do like acting and dancing. I will one day become a Philanthropist, however patience is virtue so I continue to strive and take it day by day.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many restaurants to visit like Sun dial, Gocha’s breakfast bar, Copelands, STK, and so many more. I would recommend visiting Stone Mountain, the sight is so beautiful when you reach the top and it’s a great place to clear your mind. The trap museum is one of those go to places just to take nice photos. I would definitely take my friend visiting to church at Life of Cathedral to get a nice fill up for the week. As well as going downtown on a weekend day just to ride scooters is super fun.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be where I am today without God. I have to thank him because he gave me the blueprint, connections, resources, and strategic instructions on how to do everything. I am so thankful that he is with me in all that I do because I would not have the courage to do anything without him. Also, I would have to think my friend Neika Josey who taught me how to sew. Every time I got discouraged she would encourage and push me and really be my cheerleader. I appreciate her patience with me and for believing in me.
