Meet Raquel Limon Torres | Insurance Agency Owner, Social Media Marketer, & Homeschool Mom

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raquel Limon Torres and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raquel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Starting my own business wasn’t something I initially planned, it actually began with a push from my husband. In 2017, we took a huge leap of faith and opened our own insurance agency. We invested everything we had, financially and emotionally, into getting it off the ground. With no money left, we knew we had to make it work. While my husband focused on traditional grassroots efforts like door-knocking and in-person networking, I decided to explore how we could grow through social media.
I dove in headfirst. I immersed myself in learning, taking courses, attending seminars, and testing everything I learned in real time. The results spoke for themselves: within a short time, around 80% of our business was coming directly from social media. That’s when I realized the power and scalability of digital marketing.
Then in 2023, my husband encouraged me to take what I had learned and help other small businesses do the same. Honestly, I was hesitant at first, I didn’t think anyone would be interested in what I had to offer. But I trusted his instincts, put myself out there, and to my surprise, my funnel started filling up almost immediately.
That’s how Connectada Social Media Marketing Agency was born, from a place of necessity, grown through self-education and real-world success, and driven by the desire to help others achieve what we did.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
What sets me apart is that I’m not just a marketer, I’m a business owner who’s been in the trenches. I know what it’s like to wonder where your next sale is coming from and to feel the weight of needing to provide for your family. That experience shaped the way I serve my clients. When you hire me, I take full responsibility, we’re in this together, and I’m going to do everything in my power to help your business grow. I’m also bilingual in Spanish and English, which allows me to help businesses expand their reach and connect with a broader, more diverse audience.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. In 2013, I became a single mom after leaving an abusive relationship. I didn’t have a clear path, I just knew I had a child who depended on me, and that was enough to keep me moving forward. Some days, I don’t know how I made it through. I remember coming home from work completely exhausted, falling asleep in my makeup and work clothes, waking up the next morning to do it all again. I took it one day at a time, and I know without a doubt that God gave me the strength to keep going.
Eventually, I found my way into the insurance industry, and around that same time, I met my now-husband, Jonathan. We got married, moved to Georgia, and began dreaming about building something of our own. That dream turned into reality when we opened our insurance franchise and poured everything we had into making it work.
Through that journey, I discovered the power of social media and dove into learning everything I could. I studied, experimented, and grew our business online. That success eventually led to the birth of Connectada Social Media Marketing Agency, where I now help other business owners grow and scale through strategic, impactful digital marketing.
Along the way, I’ve learned some major life lessons: stay focused, put your blinders on, and don’t worry about what everyone else is doing, just be better than you were yesterday. I believe growth is constant, and I’m always reading, learning, listening, and growing. I truly believe we can learn from anyone and everybody, there’s always something to gain if you’re willing to stay curious and open.
What I want the world to know is this: it doesn’t matter where you come from or what cards you’ve been dealt—you are not stuck. You can rise, and you can become whoever you want to be. Is it easy? No. There will be tears, heartbreak, and days when you want to quit. But I live by a rule: I let myself feel the emotions for 24 hours, then it’s time to boss up, find a solution, and move forward.
With grit, determination, and God by your side, anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
To be completely honest, I’ve only lived here a few years myself, so I’m still in the process of discovering all that the area has to offer. I’ll definitely be reading everyone else’s recommendations too! But that’s part of what makes living here so exciting, there’s always something new to explore.
One of the most surprising and memorable places I’ve visited so far is the Georgia Aquarium. I couldn’t believe how massive and beautiful it was! The marine life is incredible, and the dolphin show really blew me away. I remember thinking, “I can’t believe this is right here in Georgia.” It’s definitely one of those places I’d take someone to experience firsthand.
I also have a growing list of places I want to check out, especially the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park and other important historical sites. I love history, and there’s something powerful about standing in places that have shaped our past and continue to inspire our future.
If I had someone visiting, our itinerary would probably include some spontaneous food adventures, trying local favorites, tracking down the best brunch spots, and spending time walking through different neighborhoods, supporting small businesses, and just enjoying the local vibe.
Even though I’m still getting to know the city myself, that’s part of the joy, sharing the discovery, learning along the way, and appreciating everything this area has to offer.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely, there’s no way I could have made it here alone.
First and foremost, my parents. They have always supported my dreams and desires, no matter how big or uncertain. From traveling to Georgia to help with the kids while I took a class, to picking me up from the airport after work trips, to simply covering me in constant prayer, their love and support has been unwavering. That kind of foundation means everything.
Then, my husband, he’s the one who planted the idea of this business in me in the first place. He saw something in me before I saw it in myself and has stood by me every step of the way.
And I have to give a very special shoutout to Maricela (Mari/Mary) Cunningham. She was the first person who said yes to me and trusted me to transform her social media presence. She’s been my guinea pig, my champion, and my connector, mentioning my name in rooms I never even knew existed. She’s recommended me to programs, people, and even opportunities like this interview. I am forever grateful to her and her heart for helping others grow. I know I wouldn’t be here without her.
