We had the good fortune of connecting with Randy Waczkowski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Randy, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to combine my two passions while seeing that we need more representation in the media field from camera operators to script writing. Music was always a passion for me since I was a child so to be able to go from being a DJ in middle school to producing scores for tv shows has been a journey. I was also fascinated with photography in my teen years and went from having it as a hobby to becoming a cinematographer and filming my own series. Since then I have learned marketing and how to combine all of the creative elements to bring attention to the stories that go untold.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our business is Name’s Blue Media LLC, a production company. We focus on creating auditory compositions, distribution of visual productions, and project management. We provide various services such as marketing media, motion pictures & broadcasting, cinematography, audio-cast & soundtracks. It took years of research and making valuable mistakes which led to the development of the business. We are continuously making progress the more projects we receive and through experience with working with people and organizations. As what one of my mentors taught me, always deliver, there’s always a way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ponce is a beautiful spot especially when you and your photographer friends wants to do a city group shoot. My friends and I chose to meet up at Ponce City Market one weekend to do a shoot around the building, eat good food, and the scenery is always breathtaking. If anything, if you’re looking for good food and a place to have your meetings or even a random shoot, the Ponce City area is always on my radar.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve developed through a variety of mentors as well as my parents. My first mentor was Humberto Perel who taught me the ropes of being a DJ and hosting shows. Then my film mentor Linda Sayseng got me in the door of the film world and helped me earn a movie credit with assisting her with the locations department for Hip Hop Holiday. Bryant Person and Debra Person helped me development further not only in film and music but as a person to have confidence in my craft and know how to make engaging content to benefit the world and lead the next generation. I also had the honor to be under the wing of Courtenay Johnson who taught me how to formulate logistical data, connect with organizations, bringing a community together, and how to move like a true leader. I would also like to mention Felicia Franklin for being the pillar of change for communities, giving me the best advice as a business owner, and having a great spirit no matter how tough a storm will get. It takes a village and I appreciate the village that has guided me throughout the years of my development.
