We had the good fortune of connecting with Ramielle Moorer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ramielle, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success – and the success of my brand – is my heart. My passion and conviction fuel everything I do, but it goes deeper than that. At the core, I am deeply committed to making sure people know they are seen, they are worthy, and they are valued. I lead with the conviction that recognizing and encouraging others is not just important – it is essential. This unwavering belief shapes my vision, powers my authenticity, and inspires those around me to bring their best selves forward. By leading with empathy, I strive to create an environment where people feel acknowledged and empowered. That genuine commitment to uplifting others is at the core of everything I do, and it’s what has driven both my personal growth and the growth of my brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am honored to be the 2024-2025 District Teacher of the Year for Clayton County Public Schools (GA)—and what a journey it’s been!

My path wasn’t exactly a straight line. I graduated from college during the 2009 recession, which meant the job market was tough. For a year, I went from interview to interview, feeling like no principal wanted to take a chance on a first-year teacher. Eventually, I found work outside of education, but my heart was always in the classroom. In 2011, I finally got my chance to teach, and I never looked back.

My entire career has been with Clayton County Public Schools – the very district that raised me. If you’d told me twenty years ago at my high school graduation that I’d one day be named District Teacher of the Year, I probably would have laughed! I’ve always been a passionate advocate for students, but I saw myself as more of a supporting character.

Having my work recognized in this way has been both humbling and surreal. For years, I simply kept my head down and focused on doing what I love: helping students grow and succeed. There were times I did not feel seen or heard, but I learned to keep moving forward anyway. Those moments taught me the power of resilience and the importance of doing the work, even if no one notices.

As a music educator, I never expected to be chosen for this honor, but I approached the application process with sincerity and conviction, hoping my story might resonate. My motivation has never been about recognition – it’s always been about empowering my students and helping them find their voices.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my story, it’s that persistence, passion, and a genuine love for students can take you farther than you ever imagined. My story is a testament that even the “supporting characters” can have their moment to shine!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Though she passed away when I was only sixteen, my mother made the most of the limited time she had to pour into her children. In the precious years we shared, she poured her heart into shaping great character and integrity in us. My mother taught me the importance of honoring commitments. My mother showed me what it meant to display compassion through serving others. She embodied unconditional love, and showed me what it meant to truly be “ride-or-die” for the people I love.
My mother was my fiercest champion, always speaking life into me and celebrating every facet of who I am – including my beautiful chocolate skin. She was intentional in how she raised each of us, tailoring her love and guidance to our unique personalities and intricacies. When she left this world, there was never a doubt in my mind that I was loved, cherished, and seen. Her pride in me was a light that has never dimmed.

Everything I do is rooted in a desire to honor her legacy. I strive to share the essence of her brilliance and compassion with others. My mother’s belief in my ability to be extraordinary dared me to believe in myself. My mother gave me permission to dream; that permission has carried me throughout my life.
