We had the good fortune of connecting with RAE The Sweetheart Of Soca and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RAE, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
One of the most important factors behind my career would have to be consistency, my drive and an amazing support system.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I came from a musical background with my big cousin Roy Cape being one of our living legends out of Trinidad & Tobago, my dad also loves to sing! I attended Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens NY where I majored in music. I learned how to read music as well as play the piano here. This journey has not been an easy one, it comes with lots of sacrifices but I am lucky enough to have people that believed in me and push me to keep going. In this industry sometimes you get compared to other artist and it can sometimes deter you but you have to be confident in yourself and push through. I have a great Manager who has opened doors for rooms I never would have imagined I would be in. He saw something in me and has been with me building from the ground up! I’m convinced I have the best Manager in the world (haha) and I’m super grateful for him. Some things I would love the world to know about me is that I am a “Family over EVERYTHING” kind of person, nothing in this world means more to me than family. I’m also very big on “Real Authentic Energy” it’s what RAE stands for. I am a firm believer in staying true to yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take my friend to Times Square in the night So they can see the city when it’s lit up, I would take her to a caribbean club for sure because we have to enjoy some Soca music. And a great restaurant that has a nice ambience and great food

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out my family, Friends ,my Manager & my fans. My family & my manager are two of my biggest support systems! My mom is my best friend and she has been behind every decision I’ve made & helped me balance my family life with my music, she always steps in when I need her. My friends and Fans have stuck by me and followed my journey & supported my music. I honestly want to shout out anyone who has offered advice, or help or simply encouraged me to keep going all these things mean a lot to me.
