We had the good fortune of connecting with Rachel Oliver and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rachel, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
So ever since I could remember I’ve always had a entrepreneurial spirit. At the age of 7 my parents started taking me to the local flea market every weekday to sell my handmade crafts, that soon turned into selling handmade necklaces and candy…you name it I sold it. I even sold Avon in high school. So entrepreneurship has always been in my DNA. I’ve started many businesses in the past but,, what makes Sea moss & co. so different is that I actually stuck with it. I followed through. I showed up everyday and did the work.

I think everyone should explore entrepreneurship at least once in their life. My honest thoughts on starting a business: stay the course. There will be many days where your head and your heart are in two different places, but show up anyway. Invest in yourself/craft. Use all the resource you can and shorten the learning curve.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sea moss & co. Was birthed in 2020. I initially had no intention of starting a sea moss business. I was in search of a natural remedy to my fatigue and “mommy brain” I couldn’t focus. It seemed like I was just a passenger in my own life. I did some research and stumbled across Irish moss. I found a contact in Jamaica, ordered and I haven’t looked back. I was selling it locally but really sky rocketed when beauty influencer Alexandra Butler shared my products with her audience. What makes sea moss & co. different is our organic fruit infused offerings. We offer all organic, vegan, and gluten free sea moss. Each order is made fresh in small batches to ensure quality and consistency. We are most excited about the continuation of our popular pineapple and mango sea moss infused tea. With notes of warm citrus and immunity boosting properties we can hardly keep it in stock. I’m most proud of our newest product”sea moss + seasoning ” which is a complete every day spice mixture infused with Irish moss. I am excited about the future of sea moss & co. It was not easy navigating a successful business, where there was high demand. I was use to working at my leisure because my products were not in high demand. Changing your mindset will change your outlook and change your reality. I’ve learned that entrepreneurship is full time, your audience has to trust and you have to over deliver to remain in business. What I want the world to know about my business. We set and exceed the standard. Holistic health can be easy, and is not out of reach.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1st stop of course stone mountain because my business was birthed there.

I love the breakfast at Nanas chicken and waffles and the Korean BBQ chicken at the Taste of Thai in Norcross. We have to go to the Belt line, and a falcon or hawks game if possible. Oh and I can’t forget drinks at Ruby Chows!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Every single person who has placed an order, inquired about ordering, or cheered me on from the sidelines and of course my family and friends. I wouldn’t be here without them.
