We had the good fortune of connecting with Quinn Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quinn, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m originally from a small town in Florida named Titusville. And Titusville, the part I was raised in is a pretty rough area. And all though my (at the time) single Mother, raising four daughters-me being the youngest, kept us pretty guarded from our surroundings, I always knew that I wanted more than what I saw around me. I also watched my Mom later work very hard to provide a much better living situation. So that alone let me know that with God, hard work and determination, I could have anything I put my mind to applying those same principles.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a self-taught professional makeup artist. What sets me apart from other artist and I can say I’m most proud of is I’m not one to follow trends in this business. I truly stay true to my style of makeup application and this is beauty/glam but simplicity. I believe that makeup should be an enhancement to your already existing beauty and not a “mask”. And I’m proud to say that although makeup trends change all the time, I’ve been able to sustain my business and continue to grow my business by staying true to myself and my preferred style of makeup application which is what got me to where I am today-staying true to me. It wasn’t always easy, because with the changes that happen in makeup, constantly regarding trends, I have “lost” potential clients because I do stick with my own unique style, which I’ve coined the “QuinnSTAMP” lol. I’ve learned that you can never go wrong that way. So what I want people to always know and remember is to stay true to you. Don’t focus too much on trends and what’s popular AT THE TIME because things are constantly changing. So while it’s always great and important to keep learning, always stay true to you and what you know you’re good at. The right clientele will always find you and love you for what you do and have to offer to them. Your vibe will attract your tribe.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well of course we’d go the the beach at least three to four times within that week of being here in my town being that I live only about 15 mins away from Cocoa Beach! Lol. There’s some great places to eat on the Beach Side one being the well known Q’s Crackin Crabs. As well as some amazing food trucks like Soul Hibachi, Taste Budz, and Cajun Soul Bistro to frequent during their stay as well. We’d also have to take a 45 min trip west of me to Orlando because you simply can’t come to Florida without going to see Mickey and Minnie so Disney is a must and that’s just attributed to the big kid in me! Lol While over in Orlando there’s City Walk to visit for some more great food places and clubs. And before they’d leave we’d have to go to Mai Thai a brunch spot that has amazing food as well as vibe! It’s always a great time in there!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I absolutely have to give a huge s/o to my late Father, Bobby Williams. I lost him in 2008 to his battle with cancer unfortunately. But he was such an amazing man. A very God fearing family orientated person who was the definition of hard work. He instilled in me faith, love and obedience to God and especially the importance of discipline and hard work. He was my everything. I lost him before I started my makeup artist business in 2012, but I know without any doubt that He’d be proud of my decision to pursue entrepreneurship and stay the course in doing so. The thought of that keeps me going in this business.
