We had the good fortune of connecting with Quinn Essential and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quinn, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Giving up is never an option. I feel like it’s good to take a knee when you need to, but quitters never win. It’s okay to take some time to tighten up, but if it’s your passion and it makes you happy you should never hang it up.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an artist, but to simplify it I’m a rapper. I take pride in writing my lyrics. When doing so I want to paint the perfect picture. I’m modern but have an old school feel. I’m also a sample junkie.

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and my accomplishments. One of my dreams was to have my music play all around the world and in 2018 I did it. It wasn’t how I expected but I can still check it off my list.

I’m not where I want to be just yet but I got to where I am by believing in myself when no one else did. I’ve done it by myself and after a while you realize you don’t need anyone’s help if you’re chasing your dreams.

I want to leave a legacy. I hope when I do throw in the towel, people can look back and say Quinn was a dope rapper.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m not from Atlanta, the podcast that I cohost is based out of Atlanta. The host, my close friend AAfiumusik relocated there. It’s a beautiful city, I’ve been there numerous times but this is a tough question for me.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give a shoutout to my core fans. It’s a small group of people. Most of them I don’t know personally. It’s the ones who stream my music.
