We had the good fortune of connecting with Quenisha Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Quenisha, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
The most important lesson my business has taught me is to keep learning. Before I started my business and used to bake as a hobby to meet new people since I moved from a different state in my teens. Growing up with baking it was my way of making friends. As I grew up and had my sons it was my way of bonding with them. We would find different ways to create brownies and cupcakes, but what they did not know I was showing them how to cook and bake. As I taught myself how to create different recipes I did not know how to decorate. I had a conversation with my old manager about my idea and she gave me a chance to learn how to do the basics of cake decorating. Since I am a self-taught baker I wanted to go to culinary school but changed my mind and I enrolled in college and now I have a college degree in Business Administration. I have been in business for the last 5 1/2 years and I can honestly say that I have created some impressive creations over the years. In 2023 I dibbled and dabbled and created my cookie creations. I taught myself how to create several of the viral heart cakes as well as using my Cricut to make different cake toppers to make them one of a kind for each one of my customers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have been in the medical field as a CNA since 2002 and I am also a DSP since 2011. I was an Assistant Manager from 2021-2023 and decided it was best for me to focus on my business full time. What sets me apart from others is I love a challenge from my clients and I am very honest. If it is something that I do not do in my business I will let my client know up front and if there is someone that I know that specialize in those items I will recommend them to the client. I know that the baking industry is widespread and there is a piece for all of us baker and creators. I am most proud of being the first in my family to have a college degree. Professionally I have gotten to where I am with a lot of prayer, hard work, sweat and tears. It definitely was not easy. How I overcame the challenges was to keep going because no one was going to do my business the way I would do it but me. I wanted to show my sons that no matter what type of talent you have you can do anything you want to do in this life. The lessons I have learned is if you don’t try something you will never know if you can do it. What I want the world to know about my brand is I create anything from an idea and make it a reality.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take her to the beach. We would book a plane ticket to Virginia Beach and eat at The Yard house, drink margarita and hang out at Buckroe Beach and we would go swimming and making more memories. The most fun we would do it try different foods especially wings we are wing connoisseurs. We love trying different margaritas especially frozen. We would visit my family since they live in Virginia Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my support system: My Parents especially my Mom and My 3 Sons for always making me step out of my comfort zone and challenge me. To every single client that has trusted me to create their cakes, cupcakes, cookies and specialty treats. We Love Each and Everyone of you and we cannot wait to see what will be the next event you have that we will be apart of. I also want to thank the Side Street to Main Street Leadership Program for having me as an alumni and having the opportunity to network and get my business out in front of a bigger audience.
