We had the good fortune of connecting with Queen Zina Thrower and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Queen Zina, can you tell us more about your background and the role it’s played in shaping who you are today?
I’m from South Philadelphia, in Philadelphia, Pa. I came up at a time, kids were seen and not heard. A time when adult party every weekend and the kid stayed out of sight. Because I was not raised by my parent, My Nana brought me up to love the Lord and treat people with the same respect I would want from them. My parent didn’t hug me and tell me that they loved me. So, when it was my time to have children, I hugged, kissed, talked and listen to them. Starting this journey of my life, becoming a best-selling author, a purposely driven inspirational speaker and an entrepreneur, I did it all loving the Lord and treating people with respect.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My day career as a Quality Auditor for a pharmaceutical company, has taught me how to pay close attention to details that not seen with the naked eye. What sets me apart from others is my spirit of gratitude and thankfulness. I smile even when I don’t feel like it. I greet everyone, even if they don’t greet me back. I help people find the positive in the mist of the negative. Feeling helpless is not the same as being helpless. I am most proud of the fact, that I don’t look like what I’ve been through. I’m excited about every step God allows me to take. I got here professionally by doing thing afraid and working through my pain. It has not been easy, but nothing worth having is. Once I started looking at challenges as step to climb and realizing if I keep going there’s no limit, as long as God is in it. My story of a little girl growing up not feeling loved or accepted, but still she gave unconditional love to everyone. She has been knocked down, kicked, and betrayed. She got back up and is still standing. She is stronger and wiser than she ever thought she could be. That little girl went from being an outcast to being a Queen. She’s not finished yet. With that being said, I created a line of inspirational glass pieces that up lift and celebrate every Queen out there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to visit the Liberty Bell, Old city and the Art Museum. We would take a trip up to Lancaster, Pa and take in a show at the Sound and Sight Theater. and do some shopping at the Tanger Outlets. we would visit Hershey Park and ride the roller-coaster. We would eat at places like Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster and P.J Whelihan’s
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
