We had the good fortune of connecting with Queen Kimmie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Queen, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
What inspires me are stories. The stories we tell, the stories we believe, and the stories we create.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Our entire business Scatterbrain Kingdom is from the imagination. I dreamt and fashioned it in my head as a little girl. It was my escape and place of acceptance. Since no one understood what was going on around me, I created a world of people filled with people who understood what it was like to be DIFFERENT. A world of visionaries that see, welcome, and honor the amazement and wonder in broken disregarded people, places, and things that don’t fit in with the norms of society.

What sets our company apart is that we are like a Disney World for speakers, authors, coaches, performing artists, MC’s and first-generation business owners. We offer five different experiences in the Scatterbrain Kingdom. You get to choose your path and take a journey crafted to meet your life, career, and business objectives. We enhance the experience and make it fun while branding your story to reach the right audience at scale and capture their attention. The signature stop in the Scatterbrain Kingdom is the BOSS Effect Experience. This experience includes the Boss Effect Podcast, App, a TV show called “Jewel Drops with Queen Kimmie” airing on Legrity TV network.

The Boss Effect Experience lays the foundation for your success and enhances your current skillset with a community of supportive visionaries and thought leaders. BOSS is an acronym for bold, outspoken, soulful storytellers who create their life and business by using the power of their stories to be successful on their terms.

How did you get to where you are today business-wise.
I got here today by having the courage to be perfectly imperfect. I am accustomed to being in high-powered, fast-paced, stressful positions.
My military background and training taught me there was no room for error when dealing with people’s lives and pay. Unfortunately, that stress and pressure came with me into my family, retirement, and business. You see, when I retired, it felt like the most prominent and worst breakup ever. I had no purpose or mission and no high-paced high-powered position—just me. And I had to figure me out quickly. I was no longer training and leading soldiers or writing training packages for the Army. I was lost and searching.

If not, how did you overcome the challenges?
I overcame this by creating the STEP, COPE, and CARE methodology, part of Boss Effect Experience. Take the steps necessary to cope with me to show up for those who care about me. My husband, family and friends, and their loving support made all the difference for me. It shifted my paradigm to acceptance and peace in life and business. So I hunt the good stuff. Instead of the Army soldiers, we train and lead in Scatterbrain Kingdom through the Boss Effect Experience.

One significant lesson I have learned is to stay true to the mission, vision, and purpose. It is okay to be an innovative business that is not afraid to be DIFFERENT. Traveling has exposed me to people from all walks of life. What connects us is listening to other perspectives and working together to accomplish any mission. I read a quote somewhere that “there is no such thing as normal to one culture that is normal to another.” We believe in a world where we can all come together regardless of our differences. The world can be a better place when we come together, listen, and learn from each other stories. Stories make or break you in life, career, and business. Most effective companies know the art of storytelling to bring your business’s story to life.

We have a motto that states, “Live life as best you can, allow others to do the same, Without causing any intentional hurt, harm, or pain.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The beautiful thing about running a virtual business is working anywhere I have internet service. If my best friend came to visit for the week, our first stop would be the Big Red Barn Retreat Center. I would love to show her the lake, gardens, maze and all the retreat center offers to the community. We will also go boating on Lake Murray and eating at ocean-front seafood restaurants on a day trip to one of my three favorite beaches. Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Edisto Beach are a short drive away. We can sit on the beach with a book and a blanket all day, enjoying the peace and prosperity we work for and appreciate.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Dedicate this shoutout to a nonprofit organization created and designed with military veterans, first responders, and families in mind. Upon my retirement from the United States Army, The Big Red Barn Retreat in Blythewood, South Carolina, has been instrumental in my transition to civilian life. Along with my husband Shawn7, Geda Lion, and our four amazingly talented, supportive children deserve lots of credit and recognition. We are a family-owned and operated business, and we all work together.
