We had the good fortune of connecting with Quality Lenz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Quality, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I am a photographer / videographer born and raised in Glynn County on an Island called, St. Simons. I come from a single parent household raised by my mother. We always were moving from house to house in the town next to us called Brunswick, but we ended up with my grandma on St. Simons. My childhood was rough around the edges watching my mom go through what she did, but God was able to pull us out the cave and into the light. That is why I stay humble and positive. My creativity started when my grandma and mother bought me a sketchbook. I never looked back since then. I started to explore the vast variety of art forms and landed myself into photography. Once I picked up a camera I was in love and had a passion that could never be taken away. There wasn’t many artist known in the area and at times people though I wasn’t going to do much with art, so I had to show them anything is possible. Fast forwarding to the present I’m an Art Major in college graduating next year at GSU in Atlanta. Every day I thank God, my family and friends for the support and the extra push to become a legend of the craft. I’ve been blessed to meet many creatives in Atlanta who’ve gave me many advice and tips, and I guarantee we all will be at the top making history.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am photographer/ Videographer. What sets me apart from other is my way of thinking. I created the very first photography mixtape called, “The Mixtape With No Music.” A mixtape of just pictures and audio files. No music at all. I got to where I’m at because of God, family, friends, and my drive to try to be the most creative and innovative person. It was not easy as I struggled to be as much outside the box as possible, but with the help of my friend Groovy he helped my out the blocks in the right place. I’ve learned to never over think and never forget where I came from. Also to stay outside the box no matter the situation. Last thing I learned was to remain me and never change. Oh! I almost forgot and to always keep working. Lastly, I want to world to know who Qualitylenz is and how legendary I will be with not only my creative mindset, but with my photography Mixtapes/Albums.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Best places in the city hmm… – Areafourtwelve, photography studio Honestly that may be it for downtown, but if you go to Marietta, you should try a store called A. Conic in Smyrna. They have an amazing food place called The Play as well that has amazing shrimp and grits!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shoutout to God first then my family. Also there is a couple of amazing people I want to shoutout as well! These are only a few, way to many to name! @just_moja @itsgroovy_ @camtheartisan @ashakosh @austinwoods @earl_p_james @ayeziz @nashiofficial
