We had the good fortune of connecting with Ptar Flamming and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ptar, what do you attribute your success to?
There is no substitute for dedication and hard work. The world is filled with distractions and side projects, but staying true to your craft and the goal of being the best you can be is the secret to truly becoming your ascendant artist. Consistence and perserverance through obstacles and life’s difficulties with ultimately lead to you emerging victorious like a blooming rose!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think my music is ethereal and abstract at times, but driving and dancey at other times. Sometime this would happen quickly, even in the same song. This meant my music struggled to find a home, because it wasnt alwasy meant for the club, but it wasnt always meant for the theater either. I felt that I had to stay true to my own style, though, and eventually I found my way into scoring contemporary dance performances – where I can be atmospheric and expressive while incorporating beats and house music at times. I also found home in underground dance parties, where I could sew intricate ambience and lush beats without the need for mainstream sound organization. It took me years, but no compromising my own sound and vision for likeability ultimately worked in my favor. Stay true to your path and it will shine!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Atlanta isn’t a great tourist city on the surface, but if you know the right locals we’ll take you out of the spotlight to some relaxing and genuine locations. We don’t want everyone to know! Right now some of the good spots are closed for the pandemic, but if you’re looking for some dancing you might find your way to Terminal West or MJQ, or maybe hit up someone for a good house party! Thats where the magic really happens yall. If you want food, there are plenty of good spots in East Atlanta Village or Midtown.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I can never ever thank enough those close friends and family that stood with me through the ups and downs of life, through artistic doubt and obstacles. I love you all so much!!! I’d love to give a special shoutout to Porter and Gracie for introducing me into the dance composition arena~ <3
