We had the good fortune of connecting with Princess Wallace and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Princess, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
As a single mother I believe the most impactful thing I have done as a parent is show my children that hard work pays off. From watching me having to work multiple jobs to watching me grow as a business owner they are getting to see both sides of the process. They see the many long days and nights I experience but they also get to see and enjoy the results that comes from it. I recently purchase our first home which was an exciting experience for them and they understood that it came from the hard work I have done. They often tell me how they plan to have business one day or how they plan to buy their first car (a Telsa lol) which for me shows that not only am I inspiring them but that I am guiding them in the right direction.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the owner of MIXX Bartenders LLC., a mobile bartending company based in the Metro Atlanta area. I started my business after spending years bartending at a local lounge. At the time I was balancing a professional career and bartending part time, I found it difficult having personal and work life balance. I wanted to continue to bartend but when having to choose I chose my professional career since it was more stability in the income and I had to put my family needs first. I wanted to continue to bartend but without the late night hours so I started to seek out opportunities that had more flexibility. After some research into private events I realize that servicing private events was a great opportunity and a lucrative business. I took what I learned in college about business and my previous experience and created my company MIXX. Like many companies I have definitely face challenges, learning from trial and error during start up and even still facing challenges today after being in business for three years. There are many other similar businesses in the area so it is a competitive field but I believe we overcome these challenges by focusing on what we do best which is great customer service and tasty and unique cocktails. It’s our passion for the craft that sets us apart from others. There’s bartending then there’s mixology and with MIXX you get both. We like to create new recipes and enjoy when our clients love them. We focused on the overall experience more-so than what we are receiving in return. Our current services is only the beginning for MIXX as we continue to grow I plan to expand more in the hospitality and liquor industry.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We would visit the MLK Memorial site, Georgia Aquarium, Stone Mountain, Trap Museum and the belt line. Local food places like Old Lady gang, Mary Macs, Milk and Honey, Sweet Auburn Seafood. Also check out some of the nice night life spots.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my children. They are my motivation to keep going and to go harder and for them I will.
