We had the good fortune of connecting with Pretty Ri$ki and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Pretty, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
My name Pretty Ri$ki speaks to who I am as a whole. I love to take a good risk even if it doesn’t go the way I want it to. A lot of times people won’t take the steps to elevate themselves because it is too risky, but in reality — you have nothing to lose. This is an opportunity to rather improve from where you are right now. Yes, it can be scary but you can learn what will and won’t work for you and will allow you to see where you need to put more time and effort.
The biggest risk I’ve taken is putting my music out there. It’s something that I’ve held on to for well over 10 years because I assumed no one would take the time to listen. Then I spent months recording but didn’t release anything for the same reason. It wasn’t until my friends literally pushed me to hit that post button and just get it out there for me to get the momentum going.
I’ve never cared what people thought but these were some of my most intimate moments in life and I never knew if that was something people could truly relate to. I’ve definitely come across quite a few hiccups in this process but it’s taught me to take the chance and continue to improve.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As an artist, my journey blends my Bengali heritage with the vibrant energy of Atlanta’s hip-hop scene, creating a unique sound that sets me apart. I’m most proud of staying true to myself, releasing music that reflects my culture and personal experiences without worrying about outside opinions. It wasn’t an easy path—breaking into the industry as an independent artist meant overcoming challenges like self-doubt, limited resources, and the pressure to fit into a mold. I pushed through by staying committed to my vision and building a supportive community around me. Along the way, I’ve learned the importance of resilience, authenticity, and trusting the process. What I want the world to know is that my brand is about more than just music—it’s about celebrating diversity, breaking barriers, and inspiring others to embrace their uniqueness. Through my work in music, I’m focused on creating spaces where people can feel empowered and celebrated.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, we’d start off by taking a stroll along the Atlanta Beltline, enjoying the artwork, street performers, and energy of the city. After our walk, we’d grab some drinks and ice cream from one of the cute spots nearby. Then we’d head over to Hattie B’s for some of the best hot chicken in town—my absolute favorite lunch spot! Later, we’d either hit up the shops or go on a refreshing Target run, because who doesn’t love a little retail therapy?
Throughout the week, it would be all about chilling, exploring, and taking cute pictures—maybe a trip to the High Museum of Art or Ponce City Market to soak in some local culture. We’d mix it up with visits to Piedmont Park for a picnic or some outdoor yoga, then head out for dinner at some of the trendiest spots like Slutty Vegan or Bar Taco. It would be a perfect blend of relaxation, good food, and fun vibes!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a huge shout out to my friends Quavea, Thy and Brock along with my brother and sister and all my close friends (would be too many to list out). They’ve given me so much support from motivating me to keep going to taking my photos, helping me film content to just listening to my songs and telling me what I can do better. It has been one of the biggest blessings for me to have supportive friends who want to see me win.
