We had the good fortune of connecting with Posh President and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Posh, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Around about my third year at the University Of Louisville, I created a blog called; The Posh Standard. Posh meaning stylish, luxurious, and upper classed. While Standard meaning a level off quality that is accepted as normal or average. I wanted to create a site that created a new standard of the way we as African Americans operate with society as well as amongst each other. That later evolved. After college I moved to DC, to expand and help people that looked like me. I started hosting networking events and eventually turned my blog into a prominent media group. I LLC’d it as The Posh Standard Media Group.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Born clubfooted, my parents were told that I would never be able to walk. Both of my legs were casted up for the first three years of my life. In fact, it was in those very same casts, did I learn to walk. From that day on I would tell you that I then adopted the mantra, “tragedy to triumph”. From losing both my parents, to dropping out of college to homelessness. To a near death experience at Job Corps to getting back in college at the University of Louisville. I’ve even battled and defeated depression and a suicidal attempt. I would say that the gas of his misfortunes became the fuel of the flames of his work ethic.
What sets me apart from others is my crazy drive to help others, my class and my authentic ways
I want to my legacy to be engraved in the hearts and minds of people young and old as a catalyst of a motivation to succeed as well as an instrument of unification amongst our people. I want my work to speak with quality and purpose and inspire others to do the same. I want to be known for my aspirations of not only us but the world recognizing we people as the kings and queens that we are..
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this to my mother, black women in general and brothers seeking to dismantle and rebuild our presence in society,
