We had the good fortune of connecting with Porter Alexander Tynes, III and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Porter Alexander, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I think of the process behind starting my real estate business, I instantly think of a quote from my high school secretary, Ms. Avery Lewis. She told me that “Dreams can take you places you have never been before”. In high school, becoming a real estate agent was a dream for me. My journey towards establishing my real estate business was deeply rooted in my belief that everyone deserved the opportunity to live the dream of obtaining a home and experiencing the pride of homeownership. I understood that homeownership was not just about having a place to live, but it was also a means of building wealth and stability for individuals and their families. I was determined to make a positive impact in my community by helping people achieve this dream. However, my aspirations extended beyond just helping individuals find their dream homes & my hometown. I envisioned a future where I could work alongside my family to invest in properties and create generational wealth. Real estate, I believed, had the power to transform lives and communities. I saw it as a pathway to financial security and prosperity, not only for myself but also for those I could support in families in Georgia and Tennessee.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Everyone can be a real estate agent, but I believe what sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to the well-being and dreams of my clients. I approach each transaction with a genuine passion for helping people find not just a house, but a home where they can build their lives and create lasting memories. Beyond the paperwork and negotiations, I strive to understand the unique needs and aspirations of each client, ensuring that every step of their real estate journey is tailored to their individual goals. Real estate can be tough, but persistence is key. On my two-year anniversary of being in the real estate profession, I wrote the following words: “When I first started in the real estate business, I knew I’d have to overcome a lot of adversity. Some questions I asked myself were: Will people think I am too young? How am I going to differentiate myself from other agents in a thriving market? Will it be possible to manage real estate and undergraduate coursework? One thing I had to tell myself is that I was made for such a time as this”. I truly believe those words that I wrote during that real estate-aversary. I learned that adversity is just meant to test you. Persistence is the way through any business. In building my brand and personal journey, I’ve poured my heart into honing my skills. I’ve proudly earned certifications like At Home With Diversity, Military Relocation Professional, and a Realtor Committed to Excellence (C2EX). Yet, what truly matters to me is my dedication to each person, family, or inquiry that comes my way. The Possibilities are endless with PTIII.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Where do I even start? If my best friends or family were visiting Atlanta, the city where even the buildings have personality, these things would HAVE to be on the itinerary:

Piedmont Park for the Early Morning Runs
Golf at John A. White Park
Breakfast at Toast on Lenox
Time to Explore Little Five Points
Lunch at Grind House Burgers
Dinner at Chops & Lobster Bar
Hangout at Ponce City Market
Moxy Atlanta Midtown for the rooftop vibe
And of course, an Atlanta Braves game with time to explore the Battery area.
